Chapter Activities
" Book now for 2018 Fall BOM in New Braunfels, Oct. 12-14. Each chapter is requested to provide
one silent auction gift. This schedule conflicts with our Oct 2nd Sat. Chapter meeting schedule.
" As we plan the 2019 Fall BOM, I motion us to immediately participate and spend approx. $50 on a
donation item for the 2018 Fall BOM. More about 2019 Fall BOM below...
" SAR Mdse Medal Sale is Sept 1 thru Nov. 1. We should plan ahead and buy now at discount prices!
" The AISD Scholarship listing has been revised to reflect our latest award amounts and deadlines.
" Even though we have no immediate plans to distribute, our Youth Awards Brochure was submitted
to AISD for approval.
" Texas State Fair runs Sept. 28 - Oct. 21. I will be attending several times and would like to pair up
with you guys for 3.5 hour shifts. Free entrance and I can drive or free parking passes are available
for min 3 shifts. Signup is easy. I can forward you more info. See

" SAR Martha Washington award presentations will be at 10:00 am Wed. Oct. 3 at the Texas DAR
Arlington LCCC Chapter in the Arlington Junior League building on Pioneer Pkwy.
" University of Scouting will again be at TTJC on Sat. Nov. 17 - Volunteers needed.
Oakwood Cem. Graveside Marker Dedications in Corsicana, TX:
" Held after our chapter meeting, Aug. 11, 2018 and attended by myself, Ron Carter, Roger Wehr,
David Friels, Mike Hutchins, Alan Husch, Dan Hamilton, Jerry Cope, Marshall Cope and Jeff Meller.
" Also Corsicana City Mayor Don Denbow, Texas SAR Pres. Tom Jackson and Texas DAR Corsicana
Chapter Madam Regent Mary McColpin attended and gave greetings.
" The Texas SAR Color Guard represented and gave a musket salute, followed by an auto procession
from the pavilion to gravesites.
" Great success. Thanks to those of you who attended. We had 72 attendees 60 SAR members
including 22 Color Guard members and 12 DAR members from various chapters. This was the
largest non-Convention or BOM event that I've ever attended.
Texas SAR 2019 Fall BOM Committee:
" Joint venture of the Arlington and Ft. Worth Chapters, Mike Connelly is chairman.
" Oct. 4-6, 2019 Arlington Area Hotel, probably the Hilton on Lamar Blvd.
" Arlington Chapter BOM is needed to review some financial details. Ft. Worth will be doing likewise.
" Planning In progress, suggestions on raffle and silent auction items are needed.
o Convention Bureau is donating either 2 future Ranger or Cowboy tickets.
o More large ticket items are needed for raffle; TV, Camera, etc.
o Smaller $15-$75 new or used items are needed for silent auction; books, plaques, theme
baskets, theme park tickets, movie tickets, gift cards, booze, novelties, etc.
