SPRING 1998
THE 103RD
KERRVILLE - The TXSSAR Annual Meeting was
one of the best attended conventions in spite of the
weather.
The TXSSAR was honored to have President Gen-
eral Carl K. Hoffmann and his wife Pat, along with
NSSAR South Central District Vice President General
Herrick H. Kesler and his wife Jean, as our guests.
Much was accomplished toward achieving the goals of
the Texas Society with the committee meetings and
business sessions.
The Saturday night banquet was terrific with
musical entertainment by both Frank Gibson, now
President-elect, and the Black Bexar Pipe Band. Presi-
dent General Hoffmann spoke and brought us up toLast Name

William E.TXSSAR ANNUAL MEETING
date on activities at the National Headquarters. The
awards presentation brought surprises to many chap-
ters, rewarded for their hard work over the past year.
The Sunday morning religious service has one of
the largest turnouts. This was followed by the Council
of Chapter Presidents meeting where the new chair-
man, Perry Steele announced the focus for the year
was to rewrite the Handbook. The TXSSAR Board of
Managers met briefly, with active discussion about
FPG Clovis Brakebill's new book on the Graves of Rev-
olutionary soldiers buried in Texas. Last, but not least,
the TXSSAR wholeheartedly endorsed William N.
Floyd, Jr. MD in his bid for Secretary General for the
1999-2000 term. Best wishes Bill, as you go for the gold!NEW TXSSAR COMPATRIOTS
