the twenty-first birthday of Sam
McLaughlin popular young foot-

injuries received early this spring.
On that day a great many
friends showed their appreciation

ous other useful gifts and one
hundred sixty-seven birthday cards
were received by Sam from stu-

Sam has been confined to his
bed following the accident that oc-

Challenge Made To
Coggint By SOS
Monday afternoon at 5:30 the
momentous and mueh-talked-about
softball olasslo between the SOS
pnd the Coggin Society will be
contested.
A challenge issued by the SOS
was "accepted by the Coggins. All
this week the feminine diamond
athletes have been warming up
their arms and sharpening up their '
batting eye. With both teams so
evenly matched the game prob-
ably will develop into a pitchers'
battle.
Both a Bit Uneasy
Every day finds Catcher Evelyn
McDaniel warming up Pitcher
Jean Kennedy of the Coggins.
Jean's fast ball already has begun
to smoke across the plate and she
has developed a high ball that
should leave the SOS girls up in
the air.
On the other hand scouts from
the Coggins are wearing a frown
as they look over the practice ses-
sions of the SOS Their attempts
to find a weakness in the 808
line-up has met with failure so
far. Their smooth infield work-
outs worry the Coggins no little.
SOS girls have gone into train-
ing and are working earnestly for
a victory.
All brutes are Imperfect ani-
mals. Man alone is a perfect
beast.
A live man pays 20 cents for
a shave.
A dead one pays five dollars.
A woolen overcoat costs $400. r
A wooden one costs $400.
A taxi to the theatre is $1.
But to the cemetery it's $10.
