When Sheriff Jess Sweeten of
Henderson County resumed his
14-year-old career of crime hurt-
ing after losing the office for two
years to an ex-serviceman, he set
about making his area even
tougher on criminals.
He recently installed a 2-wav
radio .at the county jail and
equipped all sheriff department
cars with receiving and sending
sets. Now he is preparing to go
even farther.
Sweeten, along with his cow
pony, has a new trailer and two
bloodhounds that can be carted
down the highway at seventy-five
miles an hour. He described his

necessity bn special occasions."
