Burgess to State in 4-H Round-up

will be one oi 11 San Patricio
County 4-11’ers taking part in the
1990 State 4-11 Roundup, Jifne
4-7, at Texas A&M University.
The county’s 4-11 members will
be among some 1600 from across
Texas taking part in a host of acti-
vities says Kathy Farrow, county
4-11 program coordinator with
the Texas Agricultural Extension
Service.
In addition to Burgess, other
San Patricio County 4-ll’ers who
will in the state roundup are John
Bremmer, Jr, Brea Cagle, Chad
koether, Ramiro Martinez, Ryan
Martinez, Jason Ncdbalck, Mario
Neuhaus, Becky Ortiz, Stcphainc
Sanders, Michael Troutman and
Kendra Shaw.
The State 4-11 Food Show will
be held the first two days. An
opening assembly the second
evening, June 5, will feature the
presentation of numerous scho-
larships and special awards More
than 90 outstanding 4-11 mem-
bers will receive scholarships
through the Texas 4-11 Youth De-
velopment Foundation that total
more than half-a-million dollars
Also, special awards will he pre-
sented to businesses and indi-
viduals that have been long-time
supporters of the 4-H program.
And several outstanding indi-
viduals will he presented the
Texas 4-11 Alumni Award.
After the opening assembly,
there will be a reunion of those
4-11 members who attended the
1989 National 4-11 Congress last
fall and the National 4-11 Confer-
ence this spring.
Contests in 4 1 different cate-
gories will kick off the third day of
the roundup. Competitive events
will continue throughout the day.
and winners will be recognized at
a special awards program that
evening.
A luncheon on June 6 will rec-
ognize the outstanding 4-11 adult
volunteer leaders from across the
state who will receive the Salute
to Excellence Award from the
Texas 4-11 ^outh Development
Foundation.
Bromley's
anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel V. Brom-
ley of Odem will celebrate their
golden wedding anniversary at a
reception for family and friends
Saturday, June 9, from 2 to 5 pm.
at the Gateway Baptist Church in
Corpus Christi.
The reception will be hosted by
the Bromley’s daughter, Ms. Sam-
my Talley and their grandson,
Lee Talley.

The (ngleside Masonic Lodge
1361 AF&A.M, has been very busy
with several activities. On May 15
the Brothers of the lodge held a
pancake supper to honor all the
Masonic affiliated ladies, espe-
cially the wives, mothers, daugh-
ters and the ladies of the Order of
the Eastern Star
Cooks were Curtis Barber and
Russ Sturgis who were assisted by
their wives Mrs. Berdie Barber
and Mrs. Harriet Sturgis. The
cooks wanted to thank the lodge
membership for their help
More recently the lodge hon-
ored [ngleside High School
Senior Jeri Janta for her out-
standing academic performance.
She has maintained a 99 66 GPA
for four years and has been in-
volved in several community
activities She is the SeJutatorinn
of the Class of 1990 and plans to
attend the University of Texas
The ingleside Lodge presented
her with the Masonic Lamar Med-
al and served ice cream and cake
to the guests present after the
presentation ceremonies.
