Rising Star. Nov, 12.—Today
was the first freight day in the
city, the Texas, Central opening
up at noon and before night
shipped out 500 bales of cotton.
Much other stuff was in the
freight office ready for shipment
and will go out at once.
^ Rising Star people are quite
jublant over their new railroad
and pre predicting great things
for the Star in the next year/or
so.
Trains will be runing into the
Star by Nov. 20.
Baxter Kills Black Bear.
Batesville, Tex-, Nov. 6-—W
■G. Baxter, while out hunting for
deer with a party of-friends ibis
morning, killed a black bear on
the Pryor ranch, twelve miles
west of Batesville. Bruin was
about 2 years old and no doubt
had wandered down the Nueces

tion held its monthly meeting
here Thursday of last week.
Those in attendance were Drs.
Westbrooks and Duke of Sipe
Springs, Hilley of Gap, Daven-

Chilton and Thomas.
It was decided to hold the
