THS Student News
Last Tuesday night
the greyhounds traveled
to Newcastle. This trip
was for a district bas-
ketball game with the
Newcastle Bobcats. A-
fter two good games,
both teams were vict-
orious. Both the girls
and boys teams are str-
iving for distract cha-
mp ship.
The Seniors had an
assembly last Wednes-
day. An Army represen-
tative came and told a-
bout careers in the A-
rmy.
The Drama Club is
beginning to work on
their one-act play. As
by Millie
of now they have chosen
the play “The Tell Tale
Heart*' by Edgar Allen
Poe.
At THS everyone is
busy and most of us are
doing research papers.
Deadlines are on every-
one^ mind. Pressures
will be off after Friday.
Some of the FFAboys
are busy getting their
steers ready to go to
the Wichita Show. They
are: Bill Hester, Kliff
Rodgers, and Mark Lu-
kert. They will leave
Tuesday morning and t-
he steers will be jud-
ged Wednesday. We wish
you luck boys!

ministration at Texas
Tech University.

st be enrolled in 12
semester hours of cour-
ses, and have at least
a 3.0 grade point ave-
rage. Texas Tech uses
4.0 grading system.

Charles Brown Smith,
son of Mr. and Mrs.

rockmorton, graduated
from the College of Ag-
riculture Sciences at the
end of the fall semester
at Texas Technical U-
niversity.
No commencement
exercises are conducted
for fall graduates, but
students completing re-
quirements for gradua-
tion in the fall are in-
vited to participate in
the spring commence-
ment ceremonies May
13.

Ladies meet
The ’39 Study Club
met in the home of Mrs.
Jim Bob Daws Jan. 19
for their Federation Day
program. Mrs. Daws
presented the program,
“A Survey of the Gen-
eral Federation Club H-
eadquarters in Wash-
ington, D.C.” Located
near the capitol, the 3
buildings which comp-
rise the GFWC proper-
ty, were purchased in
1922 for a cost of $70,
000. The central home
had been built in 1874
by Rear Admiral Wil-
liam Radford and has
entertained many fam-
ous people within its
walls, including presi-
dents and kings. The
GFWC president now
resides there for her
tenure of office. Mrs.
Daws showed colored
slides of the many points
of interest on the pro-
perty.
Refreshments of cake
and coffee were served
to club members at-
tending, and one guest,
Mrs. Robert Willis, a
house guest of Mrs. D.
W. Cooper.

Abilene-Debbie Dixon
of Throckmorton is am-
ong 1200 scholarship
recipients for the 1972-
school year at Abilene
Christian College.
Miss Dixon is the dau-
ghter of Mr. and Mrs.
Robert N. Dixon, Thro-
ckmorton. A 1970 gra-
duate of Throckmorton
High School, she is a
sophomore physical th-
erapy major. She is a
member of Sigma Theta
Chi social club.
Scholarships are a-
warded on a basis of
academic achievement,
ability, character, and
need.
