Eagle Chronicle features students of the month
The Eagle Chronicle has an-
nounced the Seniors of the Month
for the last three months of the
school year. They are, Mauro
Vela, Mary Ann Elizondo, Robert
Cervantez, Lisa Redner, Rosie
Palacios and Ruben Villa.
Mauro Vela is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Omar O. Vela of Real-
itos. He is active in the Student
Council where he serves as presi-
dent, he also served as National
Delegate in the National Safety
Program in College Park, Mary-
land. He is President of the Busi-
ness Professional of America. He
is vice-president of the Eagle
Band and was selected as 90-91
Band Beau.
He is also a member of the
Varsity Tennis Team. He is a
member of the Eagle Chronicle
and the Yearbook Staff. He is a
member of the UIL Speech and
Literary Team participating in
keyboarding, persuasive speak-
ing, newswriting and poetry inter-
pretations. Vela achieved the
honor of attending the Regional
Meet in Victoria for Poetry Inter-
pretation. He has been a member
of the One Act Play for four years.
Vela recently competed at
Austin for the state Mr. FTA
Speech competition and he
brought home the Runner-up
Title. He is also a part of the FFA
and FHA.
His hobbies include reading,
listening to country music and
playing tennis. He plans to attend
college at Del Mar in the summer
and major in biology.
Mary Ann Elizondo is the
daughter of Sandra Elizondo and
the late Tomas Elizondo of Be-
navides. She is active in basket-
ball .cheerleading, student coun-
cil, FTA, B-Association, JCDA,
Choir and 4-H. She was home-
coming queen, football sweet-
heart and Ff A sweetheart
Her hobbies include horseback
riding, baking, reading, spending
spare time with her little sisters
and caring for animals.
She plans to attend college at
Texas A&I and major in veteri-
nary medicine.
Robert Cervantes is the'son of
Mr. and Mrs. James E. Brown of
Benavides. Robert is active in
tennis, is Sargeant at Aims of the
Eagle Marching Band, is a mem-
ber of FHA and participates in
UIL (calculator). He was also
nominated for Who’s Who
Among American High School
Students.
His hobbies include exercis-
ing, bicycling, watching televi-
sion and listening to country mu-
sic.
Cervantes plans to attend col-
lege at Texas A&I and major in
Education.
Lisa Redner is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Dan Redner of
Benavides. She is active in ten-
nis, One-Act Play, UIL, FFA,
FTA, Eagle Chronicle, Who’s
Who, HonorSociety, and the Flag
Corps.
Her hobbies include playing
tennis, reading and participating
in various extracurricular activi-
ties.
She plans to attend college at
Del Mar and major in English.
Rosie Palacios is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Rafael Palacios
of Concepcion. She is active in
. Band (flag girt), FTA, FHA, Eagle
Chronicle (reporter and typist),
Business Professionals of
America(vice-prcsident) and UIL
(poetry).
Her hobbies include reading,
listening to music and talking on
the phone.
'Palacios plans to attend col-
lege at Del Mar and major in Lib-
eral Arts.
Ruben Villa is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Jesus M- Villa of
Ramirez. He is active in FHA,
FFA, FTA, Student Council (vice-
president), cross-country, foot-
ball, track (regional qualifier), and
the B-Association.
His hobbies are participating
in sports, hunting, fishing, video
taping, and helping others.
Villa plans to attend college at
Texas A&I University and major
in pre-pharmacy.

Summer Food Service Program
The San Diego Independent School District plans to spon-
sor a Summer Food Service Program for children under 18
years of age. The program is funded by the Texas Department
of Human Services. Date of operation will be June 3, to
August 8, 1991. Free meals will be offered to all children in
attendance with no physical segregation of, or other discrimi-
nation against any child because of race, color, handicap, sex,
age, or national origin.
Lunch will be provided between 11:30AM and 12:30PM at
the San Diego High School Cafeteria, 609 Labbe Avenue, San
Diego, Texas.
Breakfast and lunch will be served to the MH/MR class-
room at the San Diego Junior High School.
