The Choral Society elected new
officers at a meeting Monday
night at the First Baptist Church.
The Rev. Edwin Gorom was
elected chairman; Mrs. Glen Dor-
ris, vice-chairman; Mrs. Rusty
Turner, secretary-treasurer; Mrs.
D. C. Brown, librarian. Supt. T.
A. Harbin will continue to con-
duct the singing. ——^
Meeting nights will be on
Thursday of each week at the
Baptist Church.
Plans were made at the meet-
ing to present “Great Hymns of
the Churches” on the last Sun-
day night in February. At that
time the choir will sing and the
congregation will be asked to
participate in some of the songs.
Plans are also now being
made for an Easter cantata.
The Choral Society, which com-
pleted organization Monday night,
will have its next meeting Thufs-

parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. T. Por-
ter, on Tuesday afternoon at five
o’clock.
Refreshments of punch, sand-
wiches, cookies, and bubble gum
were served by the hostess. After
the business meeting the girls
went exploring.
The 12 members present were

Melody and Mary Wayne Koep-
sel, Jeanette and Thana Sue
Norris, Rebecca Hutchens, Patsy
Ann and Gail Mahoney, Patsy

AT STEELHAMMERS
'i The H. D. Club met Friday
afternoon at Mrs. T. R. Steel-
hammer’s home with 13 members
and two visitors attending.
Miss Leota White of Sinton,
County Agent, gave the demon-
stration on pork cookery, show-
ing how to bake an interesting
meat dish of pork chops. -------
She used six, double thick rib
chops, slicing each to the bone
and searing on both sides. She
used a cupful of dressing to stuff
the six chops and - glazed with
pineapple slices. She set the oven
at low heat, about 350 and baked
45 minutes to one hour.

Scouters at the meeting were

Thursday the Order of the Ar-
row met at the Scout Hut and
discussed Indian dances for the
summer camp.
Saturday the Troop will meet
at the Sout Hut and do some
work on the hut grounds.

WSCS Has Program
For Epiphany
The WSCS met Tuesday after-
noon at 3 o’clock for the epiph-
any program. Mrs. W. D. Mc-
Neill was leader and those taking
parts were Mrs. O. E. Sides, Mrs.
Milby Porter, Mrs. E. A. Smith,
Mrs. F. Van Wagner, and Mrs.
L. T. Porter. Thirteen members
attended.
Arrangements have been made
for a nursery for mothers of
young children.
Mrs. L. T. Porter, study leader,
announced that the WSCS would
begin Bible study on the Book
of Acts at the next regular Tues-
day meeting.

Meets at Harbin’s
The Fidelity Class of the First
Methodist Church met at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. T. A.
Harbin on Friday night, January
11 for the regular business meet-
ing and party. The social hour
followed the business session.
Refreshments were served to

Business Meeting
The Dorcas Sunday School
Class of the Baptist Church met
Wednesday afternoon at Mrs.
Percy Hartmann’s home with
Mrs. Jess Stone co-hostess.
Mrs. Jeff Miller presided at
the business session and Mrs.
B. S. Whitaker gave the devo-
tional. Plans were made to keep
the nursery at the church open
during services for the conven-
ience of mothers who bring small
children to the services.
A salad refreshment plate was
served by the hostesses to ten
members.
