The Index desires to say to
.‘/Citizen Lady,.” in yeater-
day's issue, that throughout
Texas tr.ere are thousands of
people suffering with diseases
that will not respond to known
medicinal treatment who are go*
ing to their graves in ignorance
of Mineral Wells. Not all of
these sufferers are able to come
here; some are too poor; others
obuld not stand the trip; others,
again, would not believe; yet
there are many who would glad-
ly avail themaelves of the oppor-
tunity if they only knew. Min-
eral Wells need* these people,
but not so badly as they need
the wafers. They are not the
ones to oomplain of the duet and
poor oondition of our streets.
They would be only too glad of
the opportunity to throw, away
Idie C
he whiffs and he whiffs and tries
to blow our town up.
The Index, like Citizen Lady,
Tcadws the need of abundant wa-
ter, a cleaner, city and belter
sidewalks. It looks like nature
or the efforts of man had not
given us either. The Texas
| laws are so oonstruoted that one
cannot oompell a man or woman
t» build sidewalks, the proceeds
from the sale of bonds have par-
t ally melted atcay without an
adequate water Supply, and as
4he Standard Oil company has
seoured control of the Texas oil
field, and has raised the price
out of our reaoh, we oan’t lay
the dust.
Now, because of the impossi-
ble, must we sit down and fold
our arms and take on a spell of
the blues? The Index eays nay.
Lets seek out the invalid who is
too weak to kiok, get him to
come and oure him sound and
well and he will be so infatuated
with the loss of his crutches that
he will either remain with us for
ever or else return to his h< me
with his mouth brim fulLof word*
of praise for Mineral Wells.
Lets get the siok man here and
create a demand for sanitariums,
hospitals and hotels, and capita*
will soon overcome all obstacles.
A demand for cheaper news in
spired the invention of wireless
telegraphy A demand for
cheaper freight has caused the
building of railroads through al-
most impenetrable mountains.
A town full of siok people will do
wonders for Mineral Well.
