oughly graded and put in first
olass condition. It is a pity that
the oity does not own a rook
orusber so that the streets eould
be macadamised when graded.
Frank Riohards says the Club
Rooms at the Star well will be
closed after tonight and will not
be re-opened until the spring
trade starts off. These tooms
have furnished a great amount
of pleasant entertainment es-
pecially for the visitor and their
oloee will be regreted by them.
W A (Arthur) Howard's an-
nouncement for the offioe of sit;
secretary will be found in this
issue of the Index. This is the
first time Arthur has askedi an
offioe at the hands of his fellow
eitisens and yet all who know
him are confident that he would
make an efficient officer. His
reoord as an honest, upright oit
izen is ever with you and in vot-
ing for him no mistake would be
made, and for that reason he
asks your undivided pupport.
In this issue of the Index will
be found the announcement of
Hugh Coleman as a candidate
for re-election to the offioe of
oity asseseor and collector at the
April eieotion. For two years
Mr Coleman has filled the offioe
with satisfaction to the people
and with credit to himself. In
making the race he solicits sup-
port from every voter of the city
and pledges his usual prompt-
ness and fidelity to the trust.
Monday evening the elegant
home of Mr and Mrs H C Hern-
don was the scene of gav festivi-
ties the event being a party
given by Miss Annie Bell Hern-
don as a oompliment to Miss
Bennie Riggins of Weatherford
The amusement feature of the
evening was a "wiggle oonteet,"
in whioh Miss Carrie Stevenson
captured the first priss, while
Fred Manatee was fortunate
enough to get the booby adorn-
ments. Refreshments were serv-
ed whioh were elegant and Jin-
viting. All present went home
with a happy remembranoe of
the fair host and her accomplish-
ed guest. Those present were,
