Heard were guests of Mr. and Mrs.
J. F. Leisering and family at their
summer home in Rockport this past
Sunday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Adkins and Mr.
and Mrs. M. Cooper and children, all
of Kerrville, were brief visitors last
IFriday afternoon at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Bailey Jordan while on their
way to Bayside to their summer home
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Morris are the
guests of relatives in Marshall this
week.

Mrs. B. F. Cowan, Mrs. H. G. Pullin
.and Miss Hesta Mae Strauch report
-that they are having a wonderful
lime at the World’s Fair in Chicago.
They expect to be back in Refugio
by the end of this week.
Mrs. Rose Rogers had as her guests \ Master Elmer Edwards of Mirando
this recent week-end her daughter,
Mrs. B. M. Mason, and Mr. Mason, of
Houston. The latter were accom-
panied by their nephew, George Rog-
ers of Springfield, Mo. Mrs. Rogers
entertained her guests with an inform-
al outing at her summer home in Bay-
side.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Strauch, Mr.
and Mrs. B. H. Hornbug and Mrs. |
Roy Kolb enjoyed a swim at Bayside
this past Monday.
Mrs. M. B. Taylor returned home
last Saturday from a week’s visit in
the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
W. T. Cox, in Groesbeck.
Mr. O. A. Walker of Corpus Christi
is the house guest this week in the
home of her brother, Dr. James E.
Bauer.
Little Miss Bettye Gae Moore re-
turned turned home last Sunday even-
ing after an extended visit of thirteen
weeks in San Antonio at the homes of
her grandmother and aunt, Mrs. E. H.
Moore and Mrs. N. M. Siler.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarke Adkins of
Heardsdale were calling on friends in
this city last Monday.
City returned to his home last Sun-
day after enjoying a visit of ten days
at the home of his friend, Will Hamil-
ton Borglund, Jr.
Mr. and Mrs. Pat Burke and their
baby daughter, Nancy Ann, spent the
Fourth in Kingsville at the home of
T^rs. Burke’s parents, Mr. and Mrs.
M. Nuckols.
Mrs. W. L. Rea underwent a minor
operation at the Santa Rosa hospi-
tal in San Antonio last week. Her
condition has been reported as very
satisfactory.
Mrs. James B. Heard and her sis-
ter-in-law, Mrs. L. E. Etheridge of
Elton, La., made a business visit to
Corpus Christi on Monday of this
week.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Slavik have
moved their residence to Houston.
Mr. Slavik, however, is still attending
to various business interests here.
Miss Mary Coward, Miss Dorothy
Hawes, Dorward Stockton and Rea-
gan Coleman were visitors to Kenedy
last Sunday. Stockton and Coleman
are members of the Refugio, baseball
club.

Mrs. Beulah Ballard of Yoakum is
a house guest of Mrs. Lokey Huddles-
ton.
Mrs. Joe Smith and sons, of Yoa-
kum, were guests last week in the
home of Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Castelle.
Mrs. Leonard Dorris and sons, and
Mrs. Beulah Ballard and Mrs. O. C.
Castelle spent Tuesday in Corpus
Christi on business. .
Miss Winifred Mayes of Fayette-
ville, Ark.,, returned to Refugio last
week after an absence of several
months. She is at home with her sis-
tdr, Mrs. Neil C. Imon.
Miss Vivian Savage of Houston was
in our city last Saturday attending
to business.
, Mr. and Mrs. K. D. Hall returned
Monday from a week’s visit in Mon-
terrey, Mexico.
Mayor and Mrs. L. R. Jeter left
Thursday for Washington, D. C.,
where Mr. Jeter will attend to va-
rious business matters.
Mrs. Joe Rodgers and children re-
turned last Saturday from Galveston,
where they had been visiting for three
fays in the home of Mrs. Rodgers’
sister-in-law, Mrs. Gus Herzog.
B. F. Laughery was in Vanderbilt,
Texas, on Tuesday and Wednesday on
business.
Mrs. Roy Hutchins and Mrs. Ben
Rodgers of Edna are guests this week
in the home of the latter’s son, Joe
Rodgers.
Mr. and Mrs. T. P. Shelley and
children and Miss Grace Ryals were
guests on the Fourth in the home of
Mrs. M. H. Ryals.
Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Freeman were
guests of Mrs. R. Kunitz in Sinton
on Saturday of last week.
Mrs. Dave Odem and children of
Sinton spent Sunday and Monday in
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
Ryals.
Phillip Shay returned to his studies
at the University of Texas after en-
joying the Fourth of July holidays at
his home here.
Phil Power has been ill at his home
for the last few days, his trouble be-
ing induced by the extremely hot
weather. Mr. Power is 85 years old.
Miss Alta Mae Sikes, who recently
underwent a tonsil operation at a San
Antonio hospital, has returned home

E. P. Gates, who at present is em-
ployed on a job in Edna, was back

be with Mr. Robertson, who is catch-
ing on the Refugio Firemen’s hall

Father David Buckley of Pt. Lavaca
was in our city Monday to attend the
Rotary meeting.
Mr. and Mrs. I. IT. Dunbar and their
daughters, Misses Alma and LaVerne,
were among the many Refugians who
attended the ball game in Kenedy on
last Sunday!
Mr. and Mrs. James B. Heard and
their daughter, Miss Bebe, were visit-
ors to Kenedy last Sunday to witness
the baseball game.
Mrs. William Corgey and children
of Woodsboro and Mrs. Waiter Cor-
gey and little daughter, Joyce Marie,
and Mrs. A. Corgey, of Refugio, spent
the Fourth in Kerrville where they
visited with Miss Elizabeth Corgey,
who is attending a girls’ camp near
that city.
Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Johnson and
children enjoyed a pleasant week-end
visit at Lamar.
E. W. Bailey of Bay City was a
brief visitor in this city on Friday of
last week.
Mrs. Fanny Heard left last Sunday
for San Antonio to spend a few days
with relatives there.
John ' L. Cooke, superintendent of
the public school system here, re-
turned to Austin last Thursday to re-
sume his summer studies at the Uni-
versity of Texas.
Mr. and Mrs. George Solka and
children left the first of the week for
Chicago; where they will take in the
World’s Fair.
Maurice Garb came in Tuesday
from school in New Orleans for a few
days’ visit withh is brother, Gary
Garb.

Edwin Bailey, who has been in'
Spohn Sanitarium in Corpus Christi
for several weeks, returned home
Sunday, but is still confined to his
home.
