COMMENCEMENT SET FRIDAY. MAY 23
Commencement exercises of the
Temple Junior College and the
School of Nursing of the Scott and
White Memorial Hospitals will be
held in the First Baptist Church on
Friday, May 23, at 8:00 p.m.
Following the processional, the
invocation will be given.
These awards will be given: the
Harvey Golding Award, the Maud
Scott Award, the Kiwanis Awards,
and the Rotary Award.
The Harvey Golding Award, a
watch, is given to the outstanding
freshman student of TJC.
The Maud Scott Award is given
Luncheon Club To Have Last
Party Of Year Friday Night
The Luncheon Club will have its
last party of the year Friday even-
ing, May 16, at 7:30. The group
will gather early for swimming and
golf at Riverside Park. Later a
chicken barbecue will be served.
For the past three years • the
Luncheon Club has had a barbecue
at the end of school as its final
event of the year. This year com-
plimentary tickets were given to
all graduating sophomores and
members of the 1952 Leopards
basketball team. Regular tickets
are 40c, while guests will pay 80c
for their plates.
The food will be prepared by wo-
men of the cafeteria, except for the
chicken, which will be prepared by
Byrant Berry, club sponsor, and
Franklin King and Royce Swaim,
two of the boys who did such a
wonderful job last year.
They will choose two . freshmen
boys to help so that they will gain
necessary experience for next year.
Maynard Westlake is the chair-
man of the publicity committee.
Corky Bigham' will be responsible
for the food transportation.
The remainder of the menu is po-
tato salad, ranch style beans,
pickles, cookies and soft drinks.
After everyone has finished eat-
ing an entertaining program will
be presented by Anna Kurtin and
her program committee.
The Luncheon Club has had a
very successful year this year.
Each of the parties it sponsored
has been a big success. Sincere
thanks go to the officers, commit-
tee chairmen, committee personnel
and to Mr. Berry, who took such a
big interest in all activities.

Capping Rites
Scheduled May 30
The committee for planning the
capping ceremony has almost com-
pleted the arrangements. The co-
chairmen, Mary Frances Crump
and Faye Poss, have announced
that it will be held on May 30 at 8
p.m. at the Seventh Street Method-
ist Church. Dr. A. C. Scott, Jr.,
has been selected by the class to be
the principal speaker of the even-
ing.

Miss Gladys Dworsky will be
mistress of ceremonies and Miss
Elizabeth Combs will light the
candles. The members of the Jun-
ior Class will cap their respective
little sisters.
Various committees have worked
out the other details of the pro-
gram. The class selected red and
white as their colors and the red
rose as their flower.

tend Temple Junior College.
The Rotary Award, new this
year, is a TJC scholarship.
The Chordaires will sing “Eter-
nal Father, Strong to Save” by
Dykes, Whiting, and Hamilton.
The diplomas will be awarded,
and pins presented.

Books Given To
Nurses Library
Mrs. Mary Belle Brown, alum-
na of the Scott and White School
of Nursing, recently gave a large
number of books to the Mills Stu-
dent Library.
The books were classified as fic-
tion and non-fiction. The students
appreciate very much the interest
shown by Mrs. Brown.
The books have been enjoyable
and beneficial.
JENNINGS HAS OPERATION
C. A. Jennings, TJC freshman,
had an emergency appendectomy
May 6 at Scott and White Memo-
rial Hospital.
The benediction and the reces-
sional will conclude the exercises.
MISS
ior student of Scott and White
Memorial Hospitals School of
Nursing, was elected president of
the Texas Nursing Students As-
sociation during the 1952 con-
vention. She is to represent the
TNSA at the American Nurses
Association meeting at Atlantic
Citv in June.
