Wednesday afternoon, August 23.

line were Miss. Nunn and Mr. Cus-
ter, the honored couple; Mrs.
Henry Kast, mother of the groom-

and Mrs. Se.-jsum Coucy of San
Angelo.
Mrs. Tom Henderson, aunt of
.the groom, registered the guests.
'On the table with the bride's book
was an arrangement of small gold
tummer mums in a brass planter.
Decoration, on the piano was a
gold ming tree with brown birds.
The arrangement was flanked with
bronze .hurricane lamps. A pyra-
mid of yellow daisies was in the
alcove.
The tea table was laid with a
copper net cloth edged in brown

poem written hy Mrs. Burke
Shanklin for the occasion. A med-
ley of love songs were sung by
Mrs. Lowell Hankins accompanied
at the piano hy M.ns. Ray Moody.
At the completion of the program,
Miss Diana Henderson presented
the gifts, which were displayed on
tables covered with green cloths.
Miss Cheryl Spicer of McCamey
visited in Rockisprings this week
with Mr. and Mrs. Grady Bailey.
The group spent Sunday and Mon-
day in San Antonio visiting J. H.
Bailey.

nounce the engagement of their
daughter, Myrtle Irene, to Bret A.
Triplett of Bluffton, Ohio. The
couple are planning a September
wedding. Both, are students at
Texas Tech.

sition with the Uvalde Public
School system as a teacher of
special education. Mr. and Mrs.
McNiel and Children will move to
Uvalde within ithe next few days.
Mr. McNiel formerly taught in
Uvalde.

BUILDING CONTRACTORS
Sealed proposals addressed to
the State Highway Engineer of
Texas, for the construction of a
Maintenance Office, Storage, Shop
and Service Station Building, State
Project MC-22-Z-5, Edwards Coun-
ty, to he located on the property
of the Texas Highway Department
near the west city limit of Rock-
springs on U. S. Hwy. 377, will
be received at the office of the
State Highway Engineer, Austin,
Texas, until 2:(X) P. M., September
7, 1961, and then publicly opened
and read. •
The building consists of 6,868
sq. ft. with an attached service
station canopy. The building is con-
structed of' lightweight concrete
tile, open web joist roof framing,
built-up roofing and a concrete
foundation and floor.
This is a '‘Public Works” pro-
ject as defined in House Bill No.
54 of the 43rd Legislature of the
State of Texas and House Bill No.
115 of the 44th Legislature of the
State of Texas, and as such is sub-
ject to the provisions of said House
Bills. No provisions herein are in-
tended to be in conflict with the
provisions of said Acts.
In accordance with the provisions
of said House Bills, the State
Highway Commission has ascer-
tained and set forth in the pro-
posal the wage rates, for each
craft or type of workman or me-
chanic needed to execute the work
on above named project now pre-
vailing in the locality in which the
work is to be performed, and the
Contractor shall pay not less than
these wage rates as shown in the
proposal for each craft or type of
laborer, workman or mechanic em-
ployed on this project.
Legal holiday work shall be paid
for at the regular governing rates.

work may be examined at the fol-
lowing locations:

Henry Kast and Ellis Martin at-
tended a very interesting field day
program at the Kerr Wildlife
Management Area at Hunt last
Friday. Experiments at the Area
deal with wildlife in about the
same manner as the Sonora Ex-
periment Sttaion deals with stock.
Ait the Wildlife Area stock is also
run on the range and statistios are
kept on the various phases of do-
mestic stock and wildlife in. regard
to reproduction, health and growth.
Mr. and Mrs. John Goodwin1 and
daughters of Rankin visited in
Rocksprings this week with Mrs.
Hattie Goodwin and Mrs. Warren'
Hutt and family. Miss Jan Good-
win remained with her grandmother
to attend school here, where sbe
will be a senior. She has been
spending the summer in Rankin
with her parents.
Miss Donna Roe returned home
this week from San Marcos, where
she attended the two summer
sessions at Southwest Texas State
College. She will enroll at the Uni-
versity of Texas this fall.

Luther Browns
Celebrate 60th
Wedding Date
Mr. and Mrs. Luther Brown
celebrated their 60th wedding anni-
versary Friday, August 18th. Mr.
and Mrs. Brown were married
August 18, 1901 in Barksdale by
Rev. Dan Gibbons, pastor of the
Rocksprings and Barksdale Metho-
dist Churches.
Mrs. Brown was the former Ida
Casey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Ben Casey, and her husband was
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim
Brown. Both families were pioneer
Edwards County people. After their
marriage. Mr. and Mrs. Brown set-
tled on a ranch about a mile cast
of Barksdale. They owned1 and
operated this ranch for 42 yeans
selling it to Dr. Boren pf Mexico.
This placed is now leased from Dr.
Boren by J. B. Hutto. Mr. and
Mrs. Brown moved to the divide
country in 1941, where Mr. Brown
worked on the Babe Whitworth,
Sinclair and Hankins 'ranches un-
til 'he retired and they moved to
Rocksprings to make their 'home.
Mr. and Mrs. Brown are both
members of the Baptist Church.
Mr. and Mrs. Brown have three
children, Mrs. Chester MarschaH of
Ft. Worth, Mrs. C. C. Higgin-
botham and George Brown of
Rocksprings, 3 grandchildren and 5
great grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Brogan Guthrie
were in San Antonio last week
when their little granddaughter,
Cathy Lynn, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Earl Cole Lynn, underwent
plastic surgery on her mouth at
the Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Cathy did just fine and she and
her parents returned to their
home in Austin.

Mrs. O. L. McNealy and Mrs.
Terry Cowsert had a very nice trip
this month through New Mexico
and Arizona. At Albuquerque, they
were joined by. Mrs. Howard Mar-
tindale and the three ladies went
on to Gallup to the Indian' cere-
monies held there. Mrs. McNealy
and Mrs. Cowsert went in to the
northwestern part of Arizona to
Granada, Ohinle and the Canyon
nt Chelly and returned by Taos
and Santa Fe. While in the Indian
country, Mrs. McNealy did some
painting, took pictures and the
couple also visited numerous art
galleries.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gobble and
son, Mike, of Liberal, Kansas have
been visiting 'here with his brother,
Jim Gobble and Mrs. Gobble. The
Earl Gobbles’ other son, 2/Lt.
Tom Gobble of Ft. Sam Hous-
ton spent Saturday and Sunday
here with his relatives.
