The Coolidge Civic Garden
Gub met Tuesday, February 1st
for its regular monthly meeting.

presided over the meeting and
welcomed twenty-nine members
and four guests. We are honored
to have as guests, Mrs. Ruth
Wallace, Mrs. Florence Reed,
Mrs. Mary Lou Dixon, and Mr.
Bill Smith, speaker for the day.
Mrs. Barbara Miller was
program director far the meeting
and gave us a very interesting
"Thought for the Day”. Miss
Adelaide Reed gave us some very
timely and useful garden hints
applicable to the current season.
Mrs. Miller then introduced the
guest speaker far the day, Mr.

citizen of Coolidge. His wife,
Hazel, a member of the Garden
Gub, was born and reared in

Coolidge to live and restore the
family home.
Mr. Smith’s subject for the day
was "The History and Progress
of Glassmaking in America.’’ He
told of different processes.
ingredients for color and clarity,
molding, and glassblowing, a
very special urt. Of great interest
to the group, Mr. Smith displayed
a number of bottles from their
large collection, some beautiful
and unusual specimens, as well
as many rare antique bottles.
Bottle collection is a very in-
teresting hobby, and over thr the
years, Mr. and Mrs. Smith have
become very knowlegeable of it
and have a wonderful collection.
A Valentine theme was carrie

It was a nice day and we were
happy to see so many of our
members and our guests who
have formerly been staying in
because of the inclement
weather.
