sweethearts at the last meet-
ing. Joy Jones is the Key-
heart and her duchesses are
Nancy Sparrow and Stephanie
Harville.

THE FACULTY nomina-
ted Hilda Ybarra for the
DAR award from MHS.

MISS ANNA GONZALEZ
is sponsoring the "Creative
Bits’* this year. This book
is put together by the senior
class containing works by
all the MHS student body.
The deadline for turning in
Creative Bits is in March.

THE JUNIOR VARSITY
succeeded again and beat
Raymondville 21-16.

THE BENGAL STAFF
sponsored a paid assembly
last Friday. Many MHS stu-
dents participated by pre-
senting an act, skit, or play.
The Halloween King and
Queen candidates also pre-
sented their skits and the
student body voted on their
choice.
MR. PENA spoke to the
student body after the as-
sembly. He said that he was
proud of their fine behavior
and hoped that it would con-
tinue.

ed a Bonfire Thursday night
before the Homecoming
Game.

THE PEP RALLY Friday
was full of spirit with help
from the cheerleaders.They
are Norma Moreno, Yolan-
de Moreno, Stephanie Har-
ville, Noemi Martinez and
Hilda Hernandez, head
cheerleader.
The 1952 graduates were
recognized at the Pep Rally.
THE TIGERS tried hard,
but the Bearkats just got by
them.

was announced as Home-
coming Queen and Band
Sweetheart at the game last
Friday.

STUDENT COUNCIL spon-
sored a dance after the
Homecoming game.

Airman Jacinto Gonzales,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Tibur-
cio F. Gonzales of Mercedes,
has completed basic training
at Lackland AFB, Tex.
He has been assigned to
Keesler AFB, Miss., for
training in communication
electronics systems.
Airman Gonzales is a
1971 graduate of Mercedes
high school.
