School Transfers
Accepted June 1
Student transfer applications for
Hockley county schools will be ac-
cepted between June 1 and August
1 and not before—In the county
superintendent's office.
The announcement was made
Friday by County Supt. T. O. Petty,
who said that several had already
made attempts to file transfer ap-
plications. The June-July period for
filing the transfer bids of students
has always been observed, he said.
If grades are not taught In a stu-
dent’s home district, then transfers
must be filed, so that state appor-
tionment money will be sent to the
proper school. Applications for
transfers from one school to another,
when the grade Is taught, are acted
upon by the county board of trus-
tees. Acceptance of the transfer Is
up to the school on the pay-
your own tuition basis.
Between 50 and 75 student trans-
fers are handled each year in the
county. Final board action on trans-
ferring students will come In an
August session, Petty said.

Hockley county school funds re-
ceived a considerable boost last
week with state checks in the
amount of $32,760 added to bank
accounts of nine districts. The $7
per capita payment brings the to-
tal money received by county schools

This year’s state apportionment
of $30 Is higher than in previous
years. The money will go into teach-
er salary funds.
The 1S45-46 student money in
Hockley county, based on last year’s
4,681 scholastic count, will total
$140,430. Already received by schools
has been $121,706, with $18,724 yet
to be paid.
The remaining $4 per student will
reach the schools before Septem-
ber 1. It Is usually all paid by June
or July, County Supt. T. O. Petty
said Friday.
Enumeration of scholastics, due to
be reported to the county superin-
tendent by May 1 this year, will be
the basis for apportionment money
