Funeral Services Held Tuesday For Marvin Senter, Jr.
Mr. Robert Marvin Senter, Jr.,
89 of Teague, passed away
Saturday, February 19, 1994 in
Wortham Nursing Home. Mr.
Senter was born October 11, 1904
in Teague, Texas. Mr. Senter was a
lifetime resident of Teague, was a
Pharmacist for Palace Drug which
he owned and operated in Teague
for many years, member of First
United Methodist Church, former
member of the Rotary Club, and
past president of the Chamber of
Commerce.
Services were held Tuesday,
February 22, at 2 p.m. in First
United Methodist Church with Rev.
Michael Bcdevian officiating.
Interment followed in
Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Senter is survived by three
sons, Robert M. Senter, III of
Friendswood, Dr Don F. Senter of
Garland, Steven R. Senter of
Teague; one daughter, Judith I.
Rusert of Midland, 16
grandchildren, 6 great
grandchildren, two brothers, Leroy
Senter of Teague, Richard Senter of
Uvalde; four sisters, Irene Meier of
Austin; Alta Abernathy of Teague;
Mary Frances Smith of Tyler; Ruth
Elliot of Victoria. He is preceded
in death by his wife, Edith Senter
on January 13, 1993.

Harvey Hickman, Jr., Passes Away
Funeral. . .
Services Held For Basilia Steward
Mrs. Basilia Torres Steward,
80 of Fairfield passed away
Monday, February 14, 1994 at her
residence. Mrs. Steward was born
May 25, 1913 in Mandawe, Cebu,
Philippine Islands. Mrs. Steward
was a Registered Nurse, lifetime
member of Fairfield VFW Post
#5872 and member of St. Bernard's
Catholic Church. Mrs. Steward was
awarded a Bronze Star Medal by
the Secretary of the Navy in
recognition of her invaluable
service during World War II. She
was a civilian registered nurse with
the United States Navy Nurses at
Canacao Naval Hospital. She was
a prisoner along with her late
husband, Jerry A Steward, in World
War II.
Services were held Thursday,
February 17 at 11 a.m. in St.
Bernard’s Catholic Church in
Fairfield with Rev. Peter Whitney
officiating. A Rosary was held at
7:30 Wednesday, February 16.
Interment followed in Steward
Mill Cemetery.
Mrs. Steward is survived by
three sisters, Patricia Limbago,
Lourdes Torres and Teofilo Torres
all of the Philippine Islands; two
nieces, Ines Palmer of Dallas;
Lourdes Torres Acuna of Fairfield;
one nephew, Silclo Torres ol
Fairfield, numerous other nieces
and nephews in California and
Philippine Islands.
Pallbearers were Sileto Torres,
James Palmer, Gilbert Acuna,
Edward Acuna, David Steward,
Max Hunter. Honorary, Henry
Steward.
Capps Memorial Chapel was in
charge of arrangements.
"J.R." Hinson Services Held
Mr. Jim "J.R." Hinson, 53 of
Franklin formerly of Jewett, passed
away Saturday, February 19, 1994
in St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan,
Texas. He was a long time resident
of Jewett, was a welder for Hudson
Engineering Corp and a Baptist.
Services were held Tuesday,
February 22 at 1 p.m. in Ricks
Funeral Home Chapel in Jewett.
Interment followed in Sardis
Cemetery.
Mr. Hinson is survived by two
sons, James Andrew Hinson,
Richard Duane Hinson both of
Jewett; one sister, Augusta Gail
Simms of Robbins; three brothers,
Harold Douglas Hinson of
Cameron; W.C. Berry of Houston;
Theryal Berry of California;
granddaughter, Desiree Rose
Hinson of Buffalo and grandson,
Coltin James Hinson of Buffalo.

was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Harvey S. Hickman, Jr., 67
of Teague, passed away Saturday,
February 19,1994 at his residence.
Mr. Hickman was bom October 18,
1926 in Mountain Peak, Oklahoma.
Mr. Hickman had lived in Teague
since May 1, 1991. He worked in
production for Mobil Oil and was a
pumper for Mobil Oil Company, a
member of Eighth Avenue Baptist
Church and served in the United
States Air Force during World War
II.
Services were held
Wednesday, February 23 at 11 a.m.
in Ricks Funeral Home Chapel with
Rev. Bobby Myers officiating.
Interment followed in
Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Hickman is survived by
his wife, Betty Hickman of Teague;
one daughter, Susan Wells and
granddaughter, Amanda Wells; four
grandchildren, two sons, Michael
Hipp of Eustace; Danny Hipp of
Moreno Valley, California and
numerous cousins.
Memorials may be given to
Hospice of Mercy Foundation, 206
E. Palestine, Mexia, Texas 76667.

Mrs. Mazine Millender
Geppert, 78 of Dallas passed away
Wednesday, February 16, 1994 in
Baylor Medical Center in Dallas.
Mrs. Geppert was born November
11, 1915 in Teague, Texas. Mrs.
Geppert had lived in Dallas for the
past 25 years, was a homemaker
and a former member of First
Presbyterian Church of Teague.
Graveside services were held
Saturday, February 19 at 2 p.m. in
Greenwood Cemetery with Rev.
Jack Comer, Jr. officiating.
Mrs. Geppert is survived by
one daughter, Frances Olivia Smart
of Houston; two grandsons, Bubba
Smart, John Albert Smart; two
great grandsons, Jason and Justin
Smart; two sisters, Jodye Mulsow
of Fredericksburg; Jaynne Mabry of
Dallas; one brother, Joe Millender,
Jr. of Teague, several nieces and
nephews.
Ricks Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements.
Ruth Benedict Passes Away
Mrs. Ruth Benedict, 66 of
Donie passed away Wednesday,
February 16, 1994 in Fairfield
Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Benedict
was born February 5, 1928 in
Tarrant County, Texas. She had
lived in Donie for three years, was
a homemaker and a member of
First Baptist Church of Kennadale.
Private memorial services will
be held at a later date.
Mrs. Benedict is survived by
two sisters, Mary Cornelius of
Donie; Alva Dois Garcia of Fort
Worth, nieces and nephews.

Lewis of Teague were held Tuesday,
February 15, 1994 at 1 p.m. at
Grove Island AME Church in
Mexia with reverend Lonnie Pelton
officiating, burial following in the
Grove Island Cemetery.
Polly Lewis was born on April
11, 1902 in Teague, Texas to
Cyrus and Sarah Tinsley Glasco.
Mr. Bob Cooper, 69 of
Fairfield, passed away Monday,
February 14, 1994 in Fairfield
Memorial Hospital. Mr. Cooper
was born February 14, 1925 in Tira,
Texas. He was assistant director of
personnel (retired) from Texas
Utilities, former member of
Fairfield Rotary and Fairfield
Chamber of Commerce, member of
Fairfield VFW Post #5872 and
member of First United Methodist
Church.
Services were held
Wednesday, Februray 16 at 2 p.m.
in First United Methodist Church in
Fairfield with Rev. Fred Lang
officiating.
Interment followed in Fairfield
Cemetery.
Mr. Cooper is survived by his
wife, Judy Cooper of Fairfield;
sons, Tim Cooper of Fairfield;
Bobby Cooper of Mt. Pleasant;
sisters, Nell Stone and Margaret
Templeton both of Garland and
four grandchildren, Boone, Jillian,
Ben and Elizabeth Cooper.
Pallbearers were Dick White,
A.G. Schwarzer, Jim Gregory,
Harold Williamson, Bill Klotz and
John Dorsett.
Capps Memorial Chapel was in
charge of arrangements.

ORDER FOR TRUSTEE ELECTION
TEAGUE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
WHEREAS the term of office of Dr, Michael Cook, Glenn R, Barger, and Jo Ann Sims,
members of the Board of Trustees, will expire on the first Saturday in May, 1994, said
first Saturday being May 7. 1994. an election for trustees is order for that date.
The purpose of the election will be to elect to the Board of Trustees of said School
District one Trustee each for positions designated as PLACE 5. PLACE 6. AND
PLACE 7, for full three year terms.
All requests by candidates to have their names placed upon the ballot for the above
mentioned election shall be in writing and signed by the candidate and filed (together with
the loyalty affidavit required by Art. 6.02 of the Election Code) with the secretary of the
Board of Trustees at the superintendent's office not later than 30 days prior to the date of
said election.
Notice of the election, instructions for absentee voting, and a list of polling places shall be
published by notice in a manner prescribed in the Texas Election and Education Codes

baptized at the Gibson Chapel
AME Church in Teague, Texas.
He later united with the Asia
Primitive Baptist Church under the
pastorage of Rev. John Parhms.
She grew up and attended the
public schools in Simsboro and
Cotton Gin area.
On December 14, 1919, she
married Earsker (Bis) Lewis, a
loving a dedicated husband. To this
union a daughter and a son were
born; Mae Nella and Fred.
Mother Lewis was affiliated
with church and civic organizations.
She organized the Bi-Stone United
Usher Alliance; served at the
treasurer of her church, Mother of
the Church, Church Secretary;
organized the United Mission, was
a Sunday School teacher and was a
member of Zavalla Court #242
Heroines of Jericho in Teague.
On Friday morning, February
11, 1994, the angel of silence came
for Mother Polly in Fairfield,
Texas, calling her from labor to
reward, thus she departed these
mundane shores. Mother Polly is
preceded in death by her husband,
Earsker Lewis in 1977. She is also
preceded by her father and mother; 7
brothers; Jim, Fred, Arthur,
Wardell, Jessie, Johnny, and
William Glasco; and 2 sisters,
Beulah Gamble and Religion
Pelton.
She leaves to celebrate her life:
her devoted and faithful children:
Mrs. Mae Nella Palmore and Fred
Lewis, Teague, Texas; a loyal and
loving sister, Mrs. Eureka Pelton,
Dallas, Texas; a devoted brother,
Leroy Glasco, Phoenix, Arizona; 8
grandchildren; 10 great
grandchildren; 3 great-great
grandchildren; and a host of nieces,
nephews, and other loving relatives
and friends.
