evening, complimenting Mr. and
Mrs. Tommy Crosthwait and fam-
ily who were moving to Archer

her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lem

Mr. and Mrs. Wylie Loftin and
sons, Lyn and Glyn, visited rela-
tives in Oklahoma City last week.
Word was received here last
week of the accidental death of
Ray Livingood. The family made
their home here for a number of
years.
Mrs. Olive Underwood has re-
turned from a visit in Temple
where she was a guest in the
home of her brother, Dr. V. Brind-
ley.
Mr. and Mrs. Ridley Garrett will
leave this week for Carlsbad, N.
M., where they will make their
home.
Theadore Rich, who has served
for mroe than a year with the
U. S. Navy in the Aleutians
Theater, is here for a visit with
his wife and son, Charles, and his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. T. Rice.
Visiting this week with Mr. and
Mrs. S. H. Jones are Mr. and Mrs.
Kelly Jones and son, H. K., of
Corpus Christi.
Mike Holder who has served in
the U. S. Army in the Southwest
Pacific for more than two years,
as spending a thirty-day leave
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
W. L. Holder.
Mrs. Grady Millican and daugh-
ter, Dorothy, were in Johnson City
last week for a brief visit with
Mrs. Jack Eberling. They also
visited Misses Mary and Margaret
Millican in Austin.
Troy Lee Shepard left this week,
for service in the U. S'. Navy.

Megargel News
Supt. H. A. Clift has announced
that mid-semester exams will be
given on January 11 and 12 in the
Megargel schools.
Scout Executive C. E. Baker of
Seymour will be the principal
speaker at a meeting January 11,
at the Methodist Church in Me-
gargel. Cub S’couters, or those in-
terested in becoming a Cub Scout,
and parents are cordially invited
to attend. The affair will begin
at approximately 7:30 o'clock in
the basement of the church.
Phm 2/c W. A. (Bill) Fails,
back home from the South Pacific
came to Megargel last Wednesday
to visit his dad, B. R. Fails, for
several weeks. Fails was accom-
panied from San Diego by his
wife. He attended the Megargel
Schools and entered the service
April 28, 1942. He served with
the Marines on Samoa previous
to receiving an honorable discharge.
Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Hester and
Doyne Lee returned to Odessa
after spending several weeks with
her mother, Mrs. Lena Wilson.
The Megargel Home Demonstra-
tion Club will meet at the home
of Mrs. Tommie Estill with Mrs.
Frank Me Anally as hostess. Jan.

Mrs. A. C. Brumley and chil-
dren of Fort Worth visited her par-
ents, Mr. nad Mrs. Charlie Mayes
in Megargel last week.
Mrs. Paul Ewing and Jerre Paul
of Dallas came New Year’s
Day to visit Mrs. Lillie Ewing and
other relatives for three weeks.
Pfc. Kenneth McWhorter and
S2/c Otmar Bohac met on an island
in the South Pacific on Christmas
Day, and spent the day together.

Tilman McWhorter and Mr. and
Mrs. Ignace Bohac.

Saturday to her home in Megargel
from the Hamilton Hospital in Ol-
ney following several days’ ill-,
ness.
