Some of Ihe Texas pa tiers which
were opposed In prohibition in the
late election are still holding a love
feast with each other In each oth-
er’s eyes they are all pinks of perfec-
tion. alilp, spicy, witty and of course
thoroughly Democratic. The amount
of s ol.baring they do upon each oth-
er heats a soap factory for slosh, and
would turn the stomach of an average
dog..—Tyler Democrat ami Urportre.
The Telephone speak* of the off-
scourings of creation as giving the
big majority in August. Isn’t that a
little too strong ? Some of the Ger-
man element rank, among the best
of Texan citizenship. Some of them
were among the hardy pioneers who
fought the Indians, Cayntes and Mex-
inns, years before 'I ilk Telephone
mail saw the light of day.— Mineoln
Monitor.
That is a bold assertion; but it was
the naked truth - and that is what
makes us blush sometimes when put
in print—truth. We said it was the
offscourings of Europe, Africa, etc.,
that heat prohibition in Texas. We
are ready to reiterate it. Take, for
an instance, the German counties,
the uegroe comities, and see how the
vote went if you doubt the veracity
of this statement. If this Is too
strong Brother Cate, give us some ev-
idence rehutting it, then it will be
weakened so as you can swallow an
ordinary doae. We patiently wait.

The Canton Telephone is still
hammering away on the results of the
late election and trying to convince
itself that the majority against pro-
hibition was not all Democrats.
The Telephone however, is modest,
and is not far from the truth in its
last estimate. ThqAholine Reporter,
however, is hr rampant aa it was lie-
fore the election. Perhaps the Re-
porter prefers the next campaign to
tie made on partisan grounds ns it
got so badly snowed under in a non-
partisan race.- M into In Monitor.
Hero is ourEtffrJudge. Allow us
to extend you our heartiest congrat.
ulations. This is Ihe first time an
Anti ever accused us of being mod-
est—but it may be, as yon say, that
we have lately been associating with
old lady Modesty. And another
county heard from. (It is Wood ll.ia
time,) The Monitor accuses us again
of “being not far from the truth in
our last estimate ” Great Scott I
We are glad the Monitor is not so
rampant and uses more discretion
than it did during the campaign.
But then—a man should not, now,
be held responsible for what occurred1
during, the recent canvaaa.

and that all the people had to do
to mako a party for tlio mas-
