the bee herder moves his bees to a
higher elevation where the indus
trious insects gather the nectar

again removed to a higher elevation
where flowers peculiar to thoir

In Karnes county there is a
great deal of cotton that will yield
on an average of a bale to the acre.
Corn averages about fifty bushels
and is very fine.
Brookston Lamar county
wants 1000 cotton pickers. The
cotton crop in that section is the
finest that has been raised for years
and pickers make from $1 to $2.50 a
day.
-Mrs. Byan of the confederate
ladies' aid and monument society of
Austin reports receiving S100 from
Edna and SS00 from Houston re
cently. Their receipts to date foot
up $9800.
The State appropriation for the
payment of attached witnesses has
nearly run out there being only
S3353.0S left in the treasuary for
that purpose. When this amount
gives out deficiency certificates will
have to be issued.
A bold car robbery was perpe
trated iu the Texas & Pacific yards
at Paris Saturday night. Two men
forced a car open and were emptying
the contents when discovered by tne
watchman. The robbers forced the
watchman at the point of a pistol to
leave and before he could get assis
tance they left.
Governor Boss was notified
Saturday morning that the Agricul-
tural and Mechanical college is
crowded far beyond its capacity
and that students continue to arrive
every day. By October 1 the col-
lege" will" be supplied with electric
lights.
Grandma Herndon aged 85
years mother of W. S. Herndon of
Tvler. who lived with her daughter
Mrs. W. S. Parker of Denton died
of fright caused by the burning of a
neighbors house on last ijTiaay
night.
Most of the f armerB in Lipscomb
county are done sowing wheat and
the acreage for that county will be
between 400 and COO. Eye is being
sown quite extensively and in all
there will be something lite 1500
acres of small grain put out this
fall.
J. F. Murray sued the Western
Union telegraph company Monday
for S2000 damages for failing to de-
liver to him at Paris a telegram irom
Kingston telling him of the severe
illness of his daughter and in con-
sequence of this failure did not reach
home until after her death.

county that business has been a little
quiet since the rain and the farmers
