getting in shape. Though New
Wars, is several months past, it is
still on the mind of Susan Miller.
Miller, a mother of three,
teaches an aerobics class three
mornings a week at Second
Baptist church in Bridge City.
"The feelings of isolation and
loneliness experienced by
some moms who don't work
outside the home can escalate
to moodiness or even
depression," says Miller. She
also adds, "These emotional
factors lead to inactivity and
consequently weight gain."
This is usually the breeding
ground for more depression
thus more overeating,
beginning a vicious cycle.
Because of her awareness of
this fact, Miller and three or four
other ladies decided to start an
exercise program of their own at
the church facilities. Miller, a
former aerobics Instructor for
Nautilus Port Arthur, says the
group has grown since its
conception in 1993. "We also
meet three nights a week now,"
smiles Miter. Their rod numbers
are in the twenties, though
