HORACE WILLIAMS TO
BE DELEGATE ON TRIP
IN BEHALF OF PRISONERS
Mayor Horace Williams has
been chosen to serve as a dele-
gate on the Texas Flight for
Understanding which will depart
on August 1st for Paris, Stock-
holm and Moscow in behalf of
those Americans who are held
Prisoners-of-War and listed as
Missing-in-Action in Southeast
Asia.
The information was released
in a recent communique from the
office of the Lieutenant Governor
Ben Barnes in Austin, Texas. It
is the hope of those involved in
this effort that the example set
by Texas will be followed by all
our sister states so that the de-
mand for decent treatment, suf-
ficient information, and speedy
release of all prisoners will be so
constant and so overwhelming
that it can no longer be ignored.
It has been demonstrated that
the National Liberation Front and
the government of North Viet-
nam respond to public pressure.
It is the intent of Texas Flight
for Understanding to multiply that
pressure which has previously
been exerted in different places
by different groups many times
so that every citizen of this world
is aware of the cruelty being per-
petrated and of the efforts being
made to put an end to that cruel-
ty.
The tentative itinerary for the
Texas Delegation includes depar-
ture Dallas, Texas, August 1;
arrive in Paris, France, August
2; arrive in Stockholm, Sweden,
August 4; and arrival in Moscow,
USSR, Thursday, August 5.
Community fund-raising proj-
ects will be announced soon to
underwrite the cost of the trip.
