AT WHITE DEER JUNIOR
HIGH SCHOOL MAY 27
Junior High School graduation
exercises, under the direction of
sponsors, Mrs. J.B. O’Keefe and
Coach "Vic" Bates, will be held
May 27 at 8:00 p. m. in the Elem-
entary School gym.
Principal, Albert Thomas will
make the presentation of diplomas
to the 31 graduating students.
Those scheduled to participate
on the program are Pam Mesne ak,
Ron Williams, Tina Rhoads, Deb-
bie Cooper, Charles Hensley,
Ted Powers, Melinda Diggs, John
Keeton and Denny Moss.
SKELLYTOWN JUNIOR
HIGH EXERCISES SET
Graduation exercises for Skelly-
town Jr. High have been set for
May 27th at 8:00 p. m. in the
Skellytown gym.
Superintendent, R. W. Standefer,
Jr. will present the diplomas to 22
graduating students.
Those on the program are Billy
Lynch, Marilyn Biggers, Richard
Pershall, Cynthia Moreland, Pam-
ela Brame, W. H. Evans, principal,
John Banks, Rev, Murle Rogers,
and Mrs. W. H. Evans.
Visitors From Lubbock
Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Thomas
and son, Bart, of Lubbock visit-
ed with her father, Tom C. Pow-
ers and her grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. W. C. Powers on Monday.
ALL DAY MEETING IS
HELD BY T.E.L. CLASS
The TEL Class met at the First
Baptist Church Thursday for an
all day meeting. The class made
four quilts following a short bus-
iness meeting, with Mrs. W. Bat-
en, president, presiding.
A devotional keeping a solemn
vow based on Ecc. 5: 4-5 was
given by Mrs. C. P. Hussey.
_ Reports were given on some of
the projects that the class had
under taken in previous months.
The meeting closed with the group
singing "Bless Be the Tie That
Binds. "
Fifteen ladies enjoyed a delicious
luncheon.

1971-72 CHEERLEADERS
Cheerleaders for the 1971-72
school year at White Deer Grade
School was held recently.
Head cheerleader will be Dee
Burcham; eighth grade, Becky
Armstrong and Andrea Warm in-
ski; cheerleaders for the seventh
grade are Nicki Nicholson, and
Bonita Meadows.
Mrs. Wilma Cornette, will be
sponsor for the cheerleaders and
pep squad.

of the Harvester Bowl Traveling
team of Pampa, bowled in the
"Reddy Kilowatt' bowling tour-
nament in Lubbock last Satur-

LEON OSBORN, JR. GETS
INVITATION TO ATTEND
TRAINING PROGRAM
Every summer the National
Science Foundation awards
grants to high ability mathema-
tic and science students to at-
tend a summer training program
to carry on studies above the
high school level. Some of these
courses give college credits.
Leon Osborne, Jr., son of Mr.
and Mrs. Leon Osborne Sr. has
received offers from several
colleges and universities and has
accepted the grant at Utah State
University. He will be one of
thirty students selected from the
United States to study various
math courses. To become eli-
gible Leon had to score above
the National 95_ precentile level
of Juniors taking the scholas tic
aptitude test this year.
He will leave for Logan, Utah
June 19 and classes will start on
June 21 through July 30. This is
a six day a week course with in-
dividual research work done in
the evenings.

On Dean's Honor Roll
Otto Wheeler, a student at
Texas Tech University, was
named to the Dean's honor roll
list for scholastic achievement
which is accorded those students
attaining a grade point average
of 3.0 or better during the past
semester. Otto is majoring in
accounting and will graduate in
August. He is presently employ—*
ed in the accounting department7s
at Great Plains Construction in
Lubbock, Texas.
Mondays: 9 to 3 and 4 to 6 p.m.
Tuesday through Fridays: 9 to 3 p.m.
Moreene Bilgri, bride-elect of
Gary Don Kotara of White Deer
was honored with a pre-nuptial
miscellaneous gift shower at the
home of Mrs. Marvin Cornette
at 8:30 South Texas Street on ,
Saturday evening from hours 7
to 9.
Receiving the guest were hos-
tess, Mrs. Cornette, the honoreej
her mother, Mrs. Sam Bilgri and
Mrs. John Kotara,, Jr.
Presiding at the guest register
was Linda Cornette.
The serving table was covered
with a linen cloth centered with
a floral arrangement of spring
flowers, yellows tapers and nap-
kins. Miss Jenny Urbanczyk and
Vicki Ramming presided at the
punch and cake service.
