The Doble Larlaettes "Kicking for Jerry’s Kids"
project was a huge success. The girls had set a goal
of R4000, and were able to present Ron Stone of Chan-
nel 2 with a check nearly three times their goal, over
311,000. The Larlaettes visited the Channel 2 station
late Sunday night to make the presentation.
Eleetra Melerhoff, reporter for the girls, stated
that Charlotte Wiener, president, made the presenta-
tion. Ron Stone then joined some of the girls In "kicks”
so that the television audience could see how the girls
had worked so hard to make their large donation in
the fight against Muscular Dystrophy.
Melerhoff expressed the group's gratitude to the
"South Belt area, a community which cares".

Boat ramp
is closed
The Clear Lake Park Boat
Ramp will be closed for re-
construction until October
27, 1978. The new concrete
boat ramp will be 60' wide,
and loading piers will be
built along each side of the
ramp.
The smaller sail boat
launch ramp and the parking
area will remain open.
Clear Lake Park was the
first county park established
in Harris County some 50
years ago. The reconstruc-
tion of the boat ramp is
another step in the renova-
tion and development pro-
gram at Clear Lake Park to
counteract the subsidence
damage to the park facilities
and to further develop the
park. Over 50,000 cubic
yards of fill was used to
raise the park land.
