Mrs. Hoyte Sessions Gil-
strap, weekly columnist for
the Wichita Falls Times, has
published a collection of ar-
ticles entitled “Star Route
Journal.”
A resident of Seymour since
1925, Mrs. Sessions enjoyed
writing for many years as a
hobby before she took a cor-
respondence course in journa-
lism and began serous efforts
to write in 1967.
Mrs. Gilstrap was bom in
Crosbyton, Texas, but moved
with her parents to the pioneer
section of central Mew Mexico
at a very early age. The fa-
mily returned to her father’s
hometown, Seymour, in 1925.
She finished high school in
Baylor County, did college
work in Stephenville and Den-
ton, and taught school for se-
veral years before her mar-
riage to Paul Gilstrap, a Bay-
lor County farmer, in 1935.
Copies of Mrs. Gilstrap’s
book, ‘Star Route Journal,”
are available in the office
supply department of the Elec-
tra Star-News. They are 51.75
each.

Under new laws all law en-
forcement officers are requir-
ed to attend the school for
140 hours to be certified by
Nortex.
The courses include all pha-
ses of law, first aid, shooting
range, laws of arrest, etc.
They are taught by regular
police officers, police detec-
tives, F.B.I. instructors, De-
partment of Public Safety of-
ficers, doctors, lawyers, dis-
trict attorneys and judges.
Another school is scheduled
to begin at Midwestern Uni-
versity in September.

were hosts for a rehearsal
party held in Dutch’s Restau-
rant, Quanah.
A junior at Abilene Christian
College, the bride is a gradu-
ate of Quanah High School.
She is a member of Delta
Theta Social Club.
The bridegroom is a senior
at Texas Christian University.
He is a graduate of Electra
High School.
Following a wedding trip to &
Ruidosa, New Mexico, the I
couple will establish residence I
in Fort Worth. I

ried a cascade bouqet of gar-
denias, pink roses and En-
glish ivy.
Miss Elizabeth Sparks of
Santa Rosa, Texas, was maid
of honor. Bridesmaids were
Miss Karen Gililland of Hunt-
ington Beach, Calif., Miss Car-
la Milligan of Denton, and
Miss Linda Ezzell of Abilene,
Miss Pat Humphrey of Abi-
lipe was junior bridesmaid.
