BOY SCOUT TROOP 5 WINS
SECOND HONOR.
It will be most pleasing to Jewish
parents in this community to learn
that Boy Scout Troop 5 composed en-
tirely of Jewish boys ranging in age
from twelve years up, have carried off
secnd honor in the Inter-Troop effi-
ciency contest held in this city, and
come very near carrying off the first.
The parents of the boys who were
present at the magnificent Song Fes-
tival and Court of Honor at the Col-
iseum last Sunday afternoon when
these boys in the presence of thou-
sands of spectators, received thier
honor, undoubtedly felt pride running
through their veins and surely must
have then and there resolved to as-
sist and give their full co-operation
to the worthy .Scoutmasters of Troop
5 in this worthy object. Without the
full co-operation of the parents of
the boys, progress is difficult. The
good work of the scout movement is
too well known to need emphasis at
this time.
No little praise is due to Scout-
master S. Bernhard for his untiring
and wholehearted efforts in the in-
terest of the boys. He has given
liberally of his time and energy to
advance the boys in their scout work,
and is at all times of the day, and
any day of the week ready to assist
them in making their tests and
grades.
All are probably well aware how
many Jewish boys of Troop 5 were
represented in the relief work in the
recent flood and were admired and
very much praised by their gentile
friends for their untiring
Some of the boys were on
high as twenty-six hours.
Mr. Bernhard has arranged for the
Scout Camp at Lake Worth for the
first two weeks in June. All the
Troop boys who wish to avail them-
selves of the privileges of the camp
should notify Scoutmaster Bernhard
immediately to that effect, as proper
registration with the camp manage-
ment is necessary.
Mr. Bernhard is also planning a
trip with the boys to Mineral Wells
elaborate affair.

on Sunday, May 21, 8 a. m., weather
conditions permitting, and would like
to hear from Lhe parents and friends
of the boys to volunteer with
machines, as we will need eight
machines for the trip.
We also take pleasure in announc-
ing that Mr. ,S. Blatt has volunteered
to assist in this worthy work and
will have full charge of Troop 5 dur-
ing the absence of Mr. Bernhard.
We hope that the parents and friends
of the boys will give him their assist-
ance.
The Medal of Honor that was
awarded this troop is placed at the
B’nai B’rith Hall and anyone inter-
ested can see it there.
All we can add is, Let Us Ra-Ra
Troop 5 and its Scoutmasters and let
us assist them all we can in their
worthy effort of moulding themselves
into model young men, worthy citi-
zens and good Jews.

After a hot debatable argument it
was finally decided to dispose of our
