UT Health Henderson Sleep Disorders Center
recently received program accreditation from the
American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).
“The American Academy of Sleep Medicine con-
gratulates UT Health Henderson on meeting the high
standards required to earn accreditation as a sleep
disorders center,” said Dr. Douglas Kirsch, AASM
president. “The center is an important resource to
the local medical community and will provide aca-
demic and scientific value in addition to the highest
quality care for patients suffering from sleep disor-
ders.”
To receive accreditation for a five-year period, a
sleep center must meet or exceed all standards for
professional health care as designated by the AASM.
These standards address core areas such as person-
nel, facility and equipment, policies and procedures,
data acquisition, patient care and quality assurance.
UT Health Henderson Sleep Disorders Center is
directed by Dr. Ketan C. Patel and is located at 300
Wilson St.
Crime in Rusk County was again down overall
in the month of July.
According to reports released by the Rusk
County Sheriffs Office Aug. 2, the department
recorded slightly lower numbers with a spike in
illegal burns due to a burn ban enacted by Rusk
County Commissioners in mid-July.
Reckless driver remained at the top with 68
counts reported in July, down from 70 reported
in June.
Miscellaneous theft was up three to 36 last
month, while disturbances, burglary of a vehicle,
harassment, stolen vehicles and oilfield theft saw
lower numbers. Many crimes remained the same.
There were no oilfield thefts reported in July as
compared to nine in June.
“We believe this had something to do with the
church burglars,” said Rusk County Sheriff Jeff
Price. “They stopped going after the copper and
batteries and started burglarizing churches and
other buildings.”
