Grand jury
indicts 24
A 30-year-old woman found in posses-
sion of marijuana, candy laced with mari-
juana, guns and cash was one of a handful
of indictments handed down this month
by the Rusk County Grand Jury.
Amanda Kay Johnson was indicted for
possession of marijuana greater than five
pounds but less than 50.
A joint investigation by the Rusk Coun-
ty Sheriffs Office Narcotics Division and
the Henderson Police Department's Nar-
cotics Division led to a search of John-
son's home in July 2017.
The search warrant was issued by Rusk
County Court at Law Judge Chad Dean,
and RCSO Sgt. David Roberts said the
execution was done without incident.
Found during the search were five
pounds of marijuana as well as mari-
juana butter, resin, guns and more than
$12,000 cash.
There were also multiple types of candy
laced with marijuana and items contain-
ing THC.
“Everyone has heard of orange choco-
late bars with orange peels in them, but if
you flip these boxes of chocolate that we
confiscated it has a label on it stating it is
laced with marijuana,” Roberts said. “In
Colorado, that's how it has to be labeled.
“All of the pill bottles contain gummy
bears laced with marijuana, as well as, the
lollipops.”
