an intimate view of the circum-
stances in that area.
He said police have clocked
motorists driving 50 and 60
mph on a 30 mph road. He
maintained that west side side-
walks give pedestrians an extra
option to walk and create more
safety for them.
“I really believe the sidewalk
along the west side is going
to carry (pedestrians) safely
across the Bypass and all the
way down Mustang Road to
Gordon Street,” Thompson
said.
According to the city, the
road project is $397,219 below
budget. Councilmen have been
told that this money would re-
main in the city’s sales tax fund
and be used for future street
improvements.
The Mustang Road and
South Gordon intersection is
being relocated in an effort to
ease traffic congestion at the
South Gordon and South Street
signal-controlled intersection,
according to the city. This re-
location has been approved
by the Texas Department of
Transportation, the city said.
