Hello Friends,
Remember that feeling of walking the TSU
campus as a freshman? Those first few days of
wonderment. The warm sensation of getting
familiar with your new environment. The ease
with which the place became home. The
realization that this place isn't so bad after all.
The gratifying awareness of your campus as the
second year begins. I could not have ever, never
looked as lost as those freshmen look. The
understanding that you are part of something
much more than books and buildings. The
recognition of the Spirit of Tarleton. The longing
to get back on campus after a summer break.
Summer class sounds pretty good for next year.
The growing familiarity of all things Tarleton.
Your Tarleton, you are Tarleton. The strut of a
Tarleton Texan only a few hours away from
graduation. Another group is beginning that
process on campus this fall. Give one of them a
word of encouragement and a little piece of your
Tarleton Spirit. See you at Homecoming.
The W.K. Gordon Center for Industrial History
of Texas is scheduled to open this fall. An
excellent addition to the University has been
provided by a gift from Mrs. W.K. Gordon, Jr.
and a grant from the Texas Department of
Transportation. The center will contain research
facilities, a museum and a visitor's center. It is
located in Thurber, Texas. Our thanks go out to
the Tarleton Foundation, the citizens of Thurber,
Mrs. W.K. Gordon, Jr., the Gordon Foundation,
Erath County, the Texas Department of
Transportation and TSU for making this project
possible.
MBNA America Bank, one of America's leading
credit card banks, was selected by the Tarleton
Alumni Association to be the new issuer of our
affinity credit card program. MBNA now offers
the official credit card for the Association. We
initiated this change in credit card partners to
provide our alumni and friends with a credit card
that features a low percentage rate, peerlessbenefits and extraordinary personal
customer service. It's an easy and
convenient way to support your alumni
association at no additional cost to you.
Royalties generated from the program
will help to fund scholarships.
Thank you and good luck to Paula Snider. Paula
has accepted another position with Aramark at
the University of Texas at Arlington. As Director
of Food Service at Tarleton, Paula went out of
her way to accommodate the T.A.A. We thank
her for all the help over the years. Best wishes
to Paula.
Happy Homecoming,
