As we celebrate San Antonio's 30011, Tricentennial Anniversary, A Guide To BlackSan Antonio, Volume II
invites you to visit the City's African American
community, their rich history and their many contributions that have significantly
impacted San Antonio's growth and progress. This edition preserves and records
the journey of one of the city's most extraordinary communities.
We pick up when we last visited the community 3 decades ago during the City's
Sesquicentennial Celebration 1987. At that time A Guide to Black San Antonio
was a commemorative publication that provided a comprehensive view of the
Eastside community and it's the many facets of its.
We explore a confluence of activities and principals the community has upheld
over the years in maintaining family, work and community. It's an interesting
journey that delves deep into the strong inner layers that have kept it standing for
generations. The ties that continue to drive the community and the many interesting
things we can learn about their contributions to our local progress and development. The work of
each generation honors its place alongside San Antonio's 300 years of history.L
