ing shipments hauled to or from
‘he railroad station, according to
L. T Barrow, agent of the Katy

An automobile accident in
which four young men miracu-
lously escaped death occurred at
Round Top about midnight Sat-
urday when the driver lost con-
trol of the car and it left the road
on the curve on highway 72. in
llound Top.
The 'car followed the ditch for
a distance of some 100 feet, hit
the end of a concrete culvert,
bounced over the banister some
three feet high, shattering the top
of it, ran into and knocked down
n gasoline pump, then rammed
into a brick and concrete pillar
supporting the Sachs and Em-
merich Filling Station, breaking
the heavy pillar and knocking
down tw;o other gasoline pumps
before the car stopped.
The front of the car was smash-
ed when it hit the concrete pilbrr
which ijt broke in three p#ts,
and the car was turned ^halfway
around before it The
front wheels were knocked en-
tirely off "and the car otherwise
was badly wrecked. The crash
was heard for a mile away, said
people at -Round Top Sunday.
The four men, Frank Rech,
George Michulka. Anton Michulka
of Smithville, and Arthur Mcinke
of Dahin, were rushed to the La
Grange hospital where they were
treated. Rech was unconscious
but X-ray examination revealed
• hat' he was not seriously injured,
but it required -fifteen --stitches.
One of the Michulka boys had a
severe cut on his head, but after
having it stitched he rested well
The other two occupants escaped
with only minor bruises. They
spent the night in the hospital
and Sunday ' motning were dis'-,
missed. “■,, ,
