OUR NEW BUILDING
In response to many inquires re-
garding the status of our new home
at Tierwester and Southmore, our
Building Committee, headed by Joe
Weingarten, wishes to make the
following statements:
1. We are at present considering
various bids offered by contractors,
and we intend to start building as
soon as it is determined which bid
to accept. In any case, it will be
very soon.
2. We are definitely resolved not
to assume the heavy burden of any
mortgage on our new building un-
less it is for a short term and guar-
anteed by pledges made to the
Building Fund. We intend, there-
fore, to build only as much of the
new Beth Yeshurun as we have
money for, and, as more funds
come in, we shall build more of it.
3. We do not intend to compro-
mise, in any way, on the quality
of the structure we shall erect. We
are determined to make it as beau-
tiful and as inspiring as the skill
of the architect and the ability of
the builders can make it. We would
rather build less of it, for the time
being, but have it come up to the
highest standards of Jewish relig-
ious architecture and building skill,
than compromise with quality.
4. We, therefore, urge the mem-
bers and friends of Beth Yeshurun
who have not as yet made any con-
tribution to the Building Fund to
do so immediately, and make their
contributions as generous as pos-
sible so as to expedite the build-
ing of our structure. We also urge
those, who have already made
pledges, to pay as much of their
pledge as possible so that we might
have ready cash to proceed with
the project.
