Schumacher of Hillsboro, who led the
fight for the passage of the Gibson
bill to retinal the Robertson compul-
sory investment law for life insurance
companies, was here today and says
prospects for repeal are brighter than
ever before. He knows nothing ot an
extra session, but asks that the issue
be brought before the peoiile by legis-
lative candidates so that a positive
expression may be had, and expresses
no fear as to the outcome.
Mr. Schumacher has a photographic
copy of the opinion of the United
States supreme court in the ease uf
the Provident Life Assurance Society
vs. Commonwealth of Kentucky,
wherein it was held that Kentucky
could not colled taxes on premiums
remitted by citizens ot that State di-
rect to the home office of the com-
pany in New York, the company hav-
ing withdrawn from the Blue Grass
State/ He says this is exactly in point
with the Texas situation and forbids
Texas collecting taxes on premiums
collected by the life companies which
withdrew from thia State prior to the ty Court, will come up In regular or-
Robertson law becoming effective.

son bill its opponents owe the State!
