This is a highly interesting, well-written
story by an author familiar to The Times’
readers. We may not have so much money
now, but we can enjoy reading about it.' It
will be printed in large installments each
week. Read the opening chapters which
appear in this issue. . .

The Bay View- Study Club
met Wednesday, in the home of
Mrs. A. W. Simmons with Mrs.
W. M. Larimore as ' hostess.
Twenty-two - members answered
roll call on their various as-
signed subjects. The club had
for study “The Challenge of
-J.the New Life.” Mrs. J. R. Hut-
chison directed the lesson.
Mrs. Joe Barham gave a very
interesting and instructive talk
on “law observance through un-
• dors tending responsibility, of
the home to crime conditions.”
In the round table discussion,
Mrs. J. Roger Kelsey answered
the - question “has4 prohibition
made lawlessness or has- it but
revealed human ' weakness,”
stating that it reveals a human
weakness. Mrs. J. H. Moofe
told the club “how foreign
countries regard our prohibit-
ion experiment,” saying that is
looked upon as a joke by the
other countries. Mrs. T. T. Jef-
fus read Mrs. R. C. Kimball’s
; idea in her absence, of “the re-
, sponsibility of the club woman
, to her community.” Miss Nita
I Grant, an associate member,
was present, also Mrs. E; K.
Gunn, a courtesy membet. The
, club was glad to have them
both.
