The next meeting of the VFD Ladies Auxiliary will be
held May 5th at the new firehouse on Rt. 620 at
7:30 P.M. Every member of the Auxiliary is special-
ly urged to be present for this meeting as well as all
other ladies wishing to join in on their community ser-
vice, financially or actively.
George Fleming Jones, Jr. a Foreign Service Officer
in the Dept, of State wants to spend some time on Lake
Travis in August and needs a place to do it. He needs
a cabin or house near some shallow water where three
boys 9, 7, and 4 can swim and play safely with kit-
chen facilities and shower. Wants two rooms, but
would settle for one large room. For arrival July 7 or
8th, and for occupancy through Aug. 23rd. Two adults
will accompany the three boys and "perhaps" one
1-1/2 year old daughter. If you have something please
phone Mrs. Fleming, Sr. at 465-9661.

Winding Up Las Vegas Ticket Sale
Members of the dedicated ladies group sold tickets
this past week-end at the Austin Yacht Club, with
their cooperation, and moved toward their.goal of a
successful total sale. Drawing for the winning ticket
will take place on Saturday, April 18th at the VFW
hall, Rt. 620 near Rt. 71. Johnny Voudouris, our
recently recovered and popular County Commissioner
will do the drawing. The gathering will start at 8 P.M
with dancing and refreshments and the big drawing to
be at 10:00 P.M. Plenty tickets remain for purchase
and each ticket sale is a dol I ar to boost for the VFD
which urgently needs additional funds. We are told
that the winner may have the trip to Las Vegas or the
leighbor. He sold it to Walter Edwards who lives just two doors away. * * * P.

* * * A few of the boys stopped at Sonny's
Place after the tournament for a few cool ones. You know Burnet County i> dry
so this is a natural. One of the local long hairs from Massachusetts with a Ala-
bama car backed into one boat and then pulled up to let Andy Anderson bywith
his boat and then backed into Andy's boat motor doing $300.00 damage. The
boy only'had $20.00 which went to the wrecker driver when the Highway Patrol
wouldn't let him drive his car home. He had no insurance and no brakes on the
car. The reason he was in Sonny's was to buy brake fluid. * * * Lake Travis
started down Saturday, March 28th. It should take about two months to gut to
the 681 level without any more rain. Many houses already in the water will soon
be usable again after a good cleaning to remove the mud left by the water * * *
A new Hancock Station going in next to the Marshall Ford Grocery. * * * A long
gas war wasn't it? It lasted one day at Bobby Monroe's and none at Sonny's. **
Jim Akin has bought a new inboard/outboard boat. He has been waiting for a
year for his new dock to be built and could wait no longer for his boat. Now
John Will have to hurry. Heck Spillar has only been 2 years on my dock * * *
Dana Cashion was putting his posters in a few places and met no one on this si de
of Hwy. 71 who would not cooperate. It was a different story on the other side
of the road. The people over there must want all the new schools to stay in
Dripping Springs so the bus loads will get bigger * * * Back in the late 20's the
hot horseshoe story was going around in the Teck area. Now it has made it to
the TV shows. It was on Bonanza on March 28th.* * *E. T. Holly bought the
last lots owned by the defunct Certified Homes Development Co. This company
out of Waco bought the land on 620 and opened the Lake Oaks Estates Sub. • «
Somebody is missing a bet on the long hiss on
right side of the road coming up the hill would make a good something,
be seen all the way from Bull Creek Cut.* * * Carl Bible, Jr. is getting well
long with the new house for James Green on
to move in soon. * * * Believe it or not, Stoney Mitschke has been able to start
the Firehouse; the firetruck has been painted; no rain for a week. * * * The Jack
Falcones lave moved into their new house and are looking for a way to keep the
moss out of their creek so it won't kill the fish. I told them to get some moss
eating fish. Anyone have any other ideas? * * * The garbage dump on Hwy, 71
is now open 7 days a week. * * * Ivy and Donnie Telschow have sold their new
house in Alpine Village to Dorothy Davis Quinn. She will live here full time.
The Telschows will move to Oak Hill because of his leg injury. * * * Had anice
letter fro, Lt. Col. Richard G. Willis asking how the old place is. Dick and
his wife, Elinor, have been stationed in Florida since getting back from the war
in Viet Nam. Dick has a job with the air force and has about 10 boats plus a-
bout 200 people and other equipment to operate. He says that this is his last
station before retiring to Lake Travis. * * * Then comes Elinor's letter with the
monthly check for the water bill. We can see who pays the bills. « • * The
weatherman predicted some rain in the evening and more in the night so as the
broadcast went off the sun came out, Monday, March 30th. « * ♦ If anyone has
an unused wallet sized address book I could use it. My wife got hold of the last
one I had. * * * Tom Priddy has bought Lot 4, Block D in Travis Landing from

laundry. Two complaints on the absence of it. * * * Johnny Voudouris has not
followed his thought! on uniforms for the park attendents. They still have their
old coveralls. He dib get the new park benches and fireplaces in for the first
week-end with a full house. * * * With the water temperature getting close to

Peska has taken the place of the late Billy Kyle and not Bill King as was re-
ported last month. * * * Bill Vernon has the slab poured on his new house in
Lakeland Hills, Sec. rl. The house is proceeding on schedule, or something
like that. * * * H. L. Duncan has had a new meter installed on the Hudson Bend
Road. The tap was made under water as the hill is still draining from the recent
rains. The water running down Hudson Bend Road is not from the water main.'* *
Victor Fugate has moved into his new house in the A. L. Stewart sub. Michael
