FATHER’S DAY!
SUNDAY JUNE 18th
There's no holding those HBVFD Auxiliary
gals down. On June 24th they will feature
a “games" night, starting at 7 P.M. with
sandwiches, beer, cold drinks and a heap of
prizes for those attending, dominoes and 42
for those who wish. They also want to re-
mind all the gals that the next meeting of
their group will be Tuesday July 11th - at
7:30 P.M.
point and while we have wisely refrained
from taking precipitous court action, we are
now obtaining encouragment from responsible
men who assure us that they propose to see
that the situation is properly remedied with-
out taxpayers having to sue.
LAGO VISTA COUNTRY CLUB NEARS COMPLETION
Lago Vista Country Club, situated on the
plush green hillsides overlooking Lake Travis,
is now in the final stages of construction with
a Grand Opening date set for July I.
It will not be easy to correct some of the
gross errors that have been inflicted upon a
minority of us Travis County citizens and we
cannot plan on immediate results. However,

We do not like to tell intelligent people what
they should know, all too well. So, this is
just a reminder that summer weather, free
time and a gorgeous lake can add up to trag-
edy as well as fun and relaxation. This is to
remind you that your life, and that of loved

PROPERTY OWNERS DEFENSE FUND
ON SEPTIC TANK LICENSING
REPORT TO THE CONTRIBUTORS
At long last, after many discouraging days
and weeks, we begin to get a glimpse of
hope that the property owners rights may be
recognized and honored.
Our attorney has met with responsible legis-
lators and public officials since the clouds
of political campaigning have cleared away
and has obtained their assurance that they
are concerned about the manner in which the
septic tanks program is being handled. They
have assured him they will make investiga-
tions to determine what remedies are avail-
able and how they can help.
As the inspection program proceeds on a
spotty basis in the segregated zone arbitrarily
established by the Water Quality Board and
LCRA, along with their "hired" engineers are
providing the fuel to fully support the criti-
cism widely voiced by the victims. The vic-
tims charged with assuming the cost of a
"boondoggling" inspection aimed at keeping
the lake free from pollution represent only a
small portion of the users of septic tanks in
the county. However, they were discrimated
against by being asked to pay out - first
$65.00 then $57.00 to have their systems in-
spected. Inspections turn out to be visits by
young men with papers on clamp boards who
make casual surface or "walkover" inspec-
tions, then approving permits for a maximum
of five years. They have totally failed to
impress or to convince anyone tnat their ef-
forts contributed a single thing toward pro-
tecting the lake from pollution.
design consultants, architectural experts, and
landscaping associates have merged to create
one of the most exquisite and versatile resort
facilities of the area; one which cannot be
classified as any standard architectural de-
sign or style, but is unique unto itself.
Responding dually to its environmental setting
and to the functional purpose for which itwas
constructed, the club is designed to create a
great deal of visibility and a feeling of open-
ness. The lovely exterior surroundings are
brought indoors by way of roof covered ter-
races, balconies, breeze ways, and large
picture windows, thereby allowing the vi -
brance of exciting activities to be generated
visually. The design reflects a very contemp-
ory use of traditional, indigenous materials
such as discreetly illuminated, exposed trus-
ses used to express structure and create dra-
matic interior effects. The overall effect
will be a very plush, yet informal atmosphere
where one can feel comfortable in a golf shirt
as well as formal evening attire.
Services to be offered here are of such awide
and diversified nature that members of all
different sets and age groups may engage in
their favorite diversion, whether it be swim-
ming, golfing, or just enjoying a pleasant
drink in the lounge.
It was anticipated that club facilities would
be completed in two phases, with kitchen and
dining facilities included in the second phase
However, we are happy to announce that
plans have been accelerated and the club
will be completed in its entirety for the July
opening. It is our desire that Logo Vista
Country Club will soon become the most elite
center of dining and entertainment in the
area and will be put to full use by all pro-
perty owners.
safety rules every minute of every hour of
every dav - to avoid tragedy. Whether it is
fishing, boating, camping, cooking out, golf
playing or whatever you may enjoy the most,
that ounce of prevention is worth many pounds
of cure. Let's all invest that extra moment of
cautious thinking to keep each other alive
and whole so we can keep on living and lov-
ing and enjoying each otner.
In our last issue we apparently carried an ad
that could have misled some readers and we
take this means of clearing up any possible
confusion. There has been no change of own-
ership or management insofar as the Apache
Shores Development is concerned. The ad
was intended to cover a grocery and restau-
rant operation only.
The Maynards have changed the name of their
place from Hudson Bend Cafe to Lake Travis
Steak House and will feature all types of
steaks as well as chicken and fish, in buckets
to take out.
With the bulk of the boring tripe of political
campaigning behind us, perhaps we can re-
turn to a fare of some interesting, entertain-
ing and informative matters. When the leg-
islature convenes this coming week it will re-
semble a "wake" more than a homecoming,
and we suspect that the lame ducks might pro-
vide the odor of "dead fish" in the capital
city if they dally around performing their
task . It would be most refreshing if they just
surprised us by acting like adults, in true re-
spect for their fellow Texans, did their job
and faded into the obscurity that so many of
them earned and deserved.
We look upon this entire situation as the pro-
duct of overzealous administrators and indiv-
iduals who failed to consider human reactions
and the fact that even a disorganized body of
tax paying citizens can be aroused and inspir-
ed to fight when *hey see their interests so
flagrantly disregarded and flouted. After all,
the average home owner is not able to spend,
uselessly, sums as little as $57.00 as our
spenders of tax money seem to do in stride.
