When first called to .’’tr attention, the house -
boat had been resting near the YWCA Camp on the
Lake, and a nearby resident, A. C. Seacrest, was
concerned that children might climb aboard while
staying at the camp
It had floated all the way into a slough under
neath a swing ing bridge in that area.
Sometime during the night of April 26, dur
ing high winds and rain, the houseboat slipped from
its moorings. .. and by morning, it was spotted all
the way across the lake, near the Comanche Trail
area.

Those nasty holes and bulges along the roads in the
Hudson Bend area that extend across the roads are the
result of waterline installations for the most part. We
have known many of these to remain as load hasards
, that can cause damage and accidents, over a long
period of time. Johnny Voudouris tells us that those
created by the Water District are their responsibility
to restore to original condition. Or--they may re-
quest the county to make the repair properly at a cost
of MS. 00. It is certain that motorists are not con-
cerned about how it is done, they simply want to have
these annoying holes and bumps repaired.

We sincerely hope that when the smoke blows a-
way that the "skinny-dippers" will cease to be an
irritation and "offense" to decent, modest people.
This will require a combination of tilings happen-
ing which will be primarily initiated by responsible
people willing to do something beyond just griping.
LCRA and the County Commissioners must assume
their due share of responsibility in providing proper
supervision of public lands, providing proper sanitary
and parking facilities and STRICT enforcement of law
laws now on the books through adequate supiervision
tirough the sheriff's department
Littering, polluting, trespassing and vandalism
need no new laws—just proper enforcement with the
aid of responsible citisens. Then we can settle down
to confining "offensive" exposure to those sufficiently
interested to seek out the skinny dippers by fracking
them down.
Bathing and sunning in the nude has been 30ing on
for years and we doubt that it will ever be effectively
terminated by law. The final objective, of course,
is to cure the sick minds that prompit ind i v i d u al s
to offensively expxise themselves to others, deliberate-
ly, and frequently, while violating the law of tres-

Point area because they are popular and widely-used
by picnickers and boaters alike, " Sansing said
"Johnny Voudovris (County Commissiooer) has pro-
vided trash containers at the LCRA pierk site,* he
added, "but there are no such containers for litter at

the litter and rubbish which is recovered from the lake
bottom col 1 acted and carried off during the following
week," he explained

Although the Lower Colorado River Authority has
not cancelled its contract with the Houston engineer -
ing firm which has been inspecting septic tanks near
the Highland Lakes, the firm will have completed
the job it was hired to do earlier than expected
The firm, Lockwood, Andrews and Newnam,
will, by mutual agreement with LCRA, will have
completed its task by June 1, instead of Nov. 1, 1973,
according to LCRA General Manager John Babcock.
"We will be employing several of the men who
have been working for that firm, " Babcock said
Amoig those who will soon be working for LCRA
are H. M. Locker, lead inspector for Lake Travis;
Edward Paul Whitmore, Lake LBJ and Uppier Lake
Travis; Alvin Collins, Uppier LBJ, Inks, and Buchanan.
and John M. Hallmark, who will work out of Austin.
"We are not dissatisfied with the job they have
done... " Babcock said "They have actually com
pile ted the job six months early. "
He said LCRA would, in taking over the program
itself, probably make a restudy to see if charges to
landowners can be cut... specifically the reinspiection
charges... and especially for those living more than
