On Tuesday night at the Pres-
byterain Church there were for-
ty-nine present, including guests
from the Men's Gro.up of the De-
port Methodist Church and Carl
Young and Mr. Ford from Paris.
After a fried chicken supper,
the president presented his pas-
tor who told of his interest in all
that belongs to farming and bet-
ter farmers and their families.
Reference was made at length to
the work of John Oberlin in the
18th century, a Protestant pastor
of a poor charge who built roads,
improved soil by drainage and
terracing, introduced fruits and
grasses and did many other
things to advance the standard of
life among his people. Hie theme
of the meeting was, “God, the
Soul, and the Soil.”
