—The bones of a five-year-old
African girl were found today in
the belly of a huge crocodile kill-
ed by a farmer.
The little girl disappeared 10
days ago while playing on the
banks of a river.
When the farmer’s men ripped
the reptile open they found the
small bones with beads and ban-
gles. The child’s father identi-
fied the beads as his daughter’s.

Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, west of
Deport, has been cleaned of
weeds and the grass was mowed
Monday. This burial plot has
been mowed for the second time
already this year. Funds for the
work were made by donations
from interested citizens, accord-
ing to Sam Westbrook, in charge
of the work. If you wish to see
a pretty, clean graveyard, you
are invited to visit the Mt. Pleas-
ant Cemetery. Esker and Tom
Westbrook did the work.

Farmers here were happy to
see the rain as crops were need-
ing it badly Pasture grasses were
short due to continued dry wea-
ther. Some have already dug
their potatoes and report a poor
yield, due also to dry weather.
Dawson Ballard with the fore-
man and several other men from
the Paris vinegar plant, went to
Dallas this week for some special
work in the plant there.
Charles Bybee and James Dud-
ley of Dallas, spent the week end
here with home folks.
Most of the fences along the
road here have been set back and
work on a new gravel road is ex-
pected to begin soon.
