are improving after severe cases
of mumps.
Mrs. Freddie Eatherly of Paris,
and Mrs. Dan McGee and small
son, Monty of Marvin, are back
here with their parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Sam Skidmore and Audie
Dudley, while their husbands are
with the National Guard units in
Louisiana.
Fred Skidmore is absent from
his work in Paris, due to illness.
Delbert Ballard is employed in
Paris.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Eudy of
Cunningham, were visitors of
their daughter, Mrs. A. G. Bal-
lard. one day last week.

home after several days’ visit re-

club Wednesday afternoon when
it met in the home of Mrs. Wal-
ker Devlin for a demonstration
of yeast rolls. She also discuss-
ed the Texas Food Standard,
which is approved by specialists
in nutrition, stressing the neces-
sity of following it for the daily
diet so that each part of the body
will function properly.
The club voted to send Mrs.
A. E. Ball as a candidate for
THDA to be voted on at next
council meeting.
Refreshments, including the
rolls made as demonstration, with
cherry jelly, home made butter
and a salad and dilly beans and
iced tea were served by the hos-
tess to five members, one visitor,
Mrs. H. L. Bell of Paris, and Mrs.
Newman.
The recipe to make dilly beans
which take the place of pickles,
I is as follows: Wash tender whole
j green beans and cut off the
i bloom end but leave stem end on
I for easy handling. Pack standing
I up in hot sterlized pint jars; add
to each jar Va teaspoon of cay-
ene pepper, 1 clove of garlic, 1
small section of dill; then heat
the following liquid which is en-
ough for 4 pints: 2 cups cider
vinegar, 2 cups water, ¥4 cup salt
and boil one minute and pour
over beans and seal
