Gainesville High School alumna Hayley Henry
has spread her wings since graduating in June, from
becoming a Texas Aggie to trying out for a spot
dancing in the Super Bowl and traveling the globe.
Her journey began while still attending high
school and building her resume by making the GHS
cheer team, being elected student body president,
earning a spot and getting involved in National
Honor Society and finally graduating as No. 7 in her
University, Sam Houston State University,
Texas Tech, and UT Arlington. This is the
tenth year that a scholarship has been
given. The Scholarship Winner will be
announced during the concert. Additional
funds raised will also be used to help with
operating expenses for the Art Council
groups.
The concert will be at The First State
Bank Center for the Performing Arts. The
doors open at 6:30 and concert-goers will
be treated to wine and Hor d’oeuvres.
Gainesville Area Visual Arts will have art
exhibits to enjoy with the food. This will be
a great time to meet the artists and musi-
cians and purchase some art work that

In August she stepped onto Texas A&M campus in
College Station, Texas.
“I chose A&M because I came to the campus and
instantly fell in love,” Henry said. “I initially entered
as a biomedical science major, but I discovered a
passion for psychology, so that is now my major.”
Outside of the classroom, she joined the
university’s Fade to Black Dance Ensemble.

A 32-year-old man accused of setting a
Callisburg mobile home on fire remains in custody
at the Cooke County Jail.
Sean Nathaniel Torres was arrested on charges
of arson and possession of drug
paraphernalia on April 3 in the
1200 block of CR132, according
to an arrest report from the
Cooke County Sheriff’s Office.
His arrest stems from a
structure fire call in the 400
block of Phillips Street earlier
that day, according to Cooke
County Fire Marshal Ray
Fletcher.
Fletcher said a passerby reported smoke com-
ing from a double-wide mobile home near the high
school around 8 a.m.
When firefighters arrived, smoke and some
flames were showing, he said.
“We could see a pretty good fire inside,”
Fletcher said.
There were no reported injuries.
Fletcher said “a family of four or five” lived at
the residence.
