' on McAllen's proposed $360 900
school bond refunding program.
The board the past week refused
i to accept the refunding proposal as
filed several weeks ago. but Supt.
John H. Gregory said Saturday he
thought the board desired to ac-
quaint itself with the project before
to be a good judge he had tn become taking a final vote on it. Gregory
said the board has recently been re-
organized.
1 Interest rate on $360,000 worth of
district bonds would be lowered
fmm 5 to 3 3-4 per cent, affording
a saving of $120 000 in interest over
a 20-year period. The school dis-
trict would obtain an opuon on the
bonds, now held by the Woodmen
of the World organization, and sell
them to the state board as the
means of reducing the interest rate.
