. Carnival Doings.
I Things around the carnival
I were in rah swing yesterday
evening and last night. The
I crowd nut last night was the first
of the week, and the various
shows were fairly patronized by
the best class of people.
Those in authority regret re-
I ports of some rowdyism last
night and will take steps to sup-
press such in future. Patronage
; is not desired from persons who
[ have not yet learned how to oon-
' duct themselves properly.
A balloon ascension is made
each afternoon, weather permit-
j ting,T>y Prof? Colton, and a high
! dive is made each evening. Both
acts were done yesterday and
| were splendidly successful.
A few days more will tell the
tale. There is underging at our
store a tremendous stock reduc-
tion. All small lots, odds and
ends, remnants, etc., going out in
1 a hurry. You should take advan-
tage of our offerings. Wagner A
Patout.

Health Officer Tabor to Resde at the
State Capital.
Austin, Texas, Dec. -17.—Dr.
George R. Tabor, who retires as
State health officer of Texas next
month, has announced that he
will make Austin his future home.
Dr. Tabor had not fully made up
his mind heretofore as to what
he should do, but he has now de-
cided to remain and become a
citizen of Austin. He will prac-
tice his profession here. It has
generally been conceded that Dr.
Tabor has made the best health
officer the State of Texas has
ever had. He had proved himself
an expert in yellow fever, small-
pox and other contagious dis-
eases.
Ladies’ tan, castor, navy and
black cloaks, the nicest garments
in the city, at Wagner & Patout’s.
i Gents’neckwear and mufflers
