Peggy Partridge was named the Grand Marshal of the 2017 Whitewright
Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 4. She was riding in a 2017 convertible
sponsored by Bob Utter Ford in the parade. She is a life long resident of the
Whitewright area and attended Whitewright ISD.
Fall Festival sponsored by the Whitewright Area Chamber of Commerce was
held in downtown Whitewright last Saturday with plenty of vendors, items to buy,
food to eat and something to keep you from being thirsty. A Street Dance was held
after the festival where participants enjoyed the bands that performed during the
event and had a good time.
The FFA Booster Club’s Chili Cook-off and Live Auction held at Whitewright
Middle School last Saturday night was full of fun, good food, and lots of laughter,
all for a good cause.
The night started with the chili cook-off and the tasting of chili from ten entries
including businesses, organizations, and individuals. Entrants were Spring Market,
Madelyn and Jerry Vaughan, Whitewright ISD Administration office, Bobby
Durham, Belinda Martin and Leasa Ramsey, Gary Gonzales, Eddie McCartney,
Emily Purvis, Mendy Hill, and Cherokee Ranch.
The tasting and judging by the attendees was tough, but in the end these three
versions stood out: first place went to Belinda Martin and Leasa Ramsey; Bobby
Durham took second place; and coming in third was Gary Gonzales.
At 81 years old, you’d think Dr. Marilyn Todd-Daniels would be ready to hang
up her paintbrushes and just tend to her roses. You’d be wrong. In fact, the artist
whose professional career spans half a century has just completed a stunning
new work “Metamorphosis: Mount Saint Helens” that will be the centerpiece of
a retrospective exhibit opening in December at The Martin Place in McKinney.
The show will feature curated selections from over 1000 works in various media.
The exhibit is called Ode to Joy: Jubilee - A fifty-year retrospective exhibit of
paintings from a lifetime of adventures spanning past and present. The show will
run from December 2 - 30, 2017.

Whether you view the new year as a beginning or an end, what really
counts is finding the time to spend with people you care about, doing
the things that matter most, and for us that means letting you know just
how much we appreciate your generous support!
