A Message from the Publisher,
I am proud to be an American and a Veteran
of the United States Air Force. I love this country
and the rights we are all afforded as citizens of this
great nation. I encourage everyone to take the time
to say thank you to a veteran or active duty service
member this week.
I am aware there have been a select few
individuals that say quite a few negative things since
I took over publishing The Whitewright Sun.
Nevertheless, when I go to the mailbox each week, I
find many positive words of encouragement, thank
you cards, and notes of appreciation which far out
weight those few people who wish to discourage.
I am truly thankful for my neighbors who
are the subscribers and readers of The Whitewright
Sun. I will continue to work diligently to publish
news and facts that affect our community and
provide coverage of our youth and their activities.

The fact that Charley Van Doren entered
into a conspiracy to fool the people while he par-
ticipated in the rigged quiz shows wasn’t so terrible.
For $129,000 a lot of holier-than-thou Americans
might do the same thing if given the chance. Char-
ley’s big mistake was lying about it to the grand
jury and to the public. When he was first asked
about the fix, if he had been honest and told the
truth, he wouldn’t be in the doghouse now. There
is one sure thing in life besides death and taxes - it
is that our sins will find us out, eventually.

gagements,obituaries,
As I’ve been updating the news group the last couple of months, I was puzzled why the “Coffee
with the Mayor” event has been canceled.... It seems the mayor has taken a job, SO now we have a mayor
not available on a regular basis. Let’s hope there is never a disaster or emergency in town. If it happens,
will we have a mayor available? And we have a council member who lives in McKinney. Do we need

accomplished. The city employees deserve a raise. It seems THEY are running the town, not the mayor.
Our last 2 mayors have not talked the talk or walked the talk...they can’t even finish the race!
They were elected but lost interest in the city functions before their term was up.
I, regretfully, voted for our current mayor but have been highly disappointed in his actions, or
lack of actions. I only hope, in May, we get some candidates who are focused on promoting/supporting
the city & not hiding behind a closed door.
