April 30, 2020 3
After all the try outs were done
and everyone got to see the results
posted, I asked 2 of the upcoming
2021 senior varsity cheerleaders their
, \ - ir. thoughts and what they wanted to
accomplish this year as a group. With
jfi this being their last year, and I
H wondered if they planned on
n continuing to cheer beyond high
E school.
Senior Alivia Stephens said, “It
gg was very overwhelming because we
I had to do a virtual try out this year,
■ and we didn’t know if everything
would go as planned. It was sad too
9 because I didn’t get to sit in the library
and wait with my friends and stress a
little bit for the very last time. This
B upcoming year, we are planning on
j our stunts and making a
closer bond within the team. We all
want to be close to one another and be able to rely on each other. I have
thought about cheering after high school at Grayson, but I am still indecisive
about the decision.”
Senior Kelsey Cotton said, “It was very awkward with the way it had
to be done this year due to the COVID-19, but looking past that, it was very
nerve racking and sad that I get to cheer for Whitewright High School one
last time. I want to accomplish having more friendships and show that we can
do more things even though we are a small school and squad and that we can
come together as one. I have not fully decided if I want to cheer after high
school, but I would love to consider it.”
Even though the upcoming seniors didn’t get to try out like they have
in the past because of the virus and everything going on, they still pushed
through and did the best they could and have big plans for their last cheer
season for Whitewright High School.
