As commander of Ellington Field, Col.
Reid started with a huge area of marsh, lots
of plans on paper, and very little time to
accomplish his mission.
Today, under the ceaseless and energetic
direction of Col. Reid, Ellington Field has
been transposed from a spot on the map to
one of the finest aerial warfare training
schools in the world.
The colonel is a graduate of Kelly Field
a veteran of the World War I, and has more
than 5000 hours of flying time to his credit.
An exacting type of officer, he is quick to
praise efficient work and is reverently re-
ferred to by his command as the "squarest
kind of leader."4
