Ah.
■
I am well aware that young people in
college very often drift away from faith and
religion. Instead of realizing that the find-
ings of science only add to the greatness
and majesty of God, instead of being in-
spired by scientific discovery to sense the
spiritual mystery of the cosmos and universe,
which Einstein wrote about, they recklessly
assume that there is no God and that re-
ligion is so much old-fashioned foolishness.
So many of them come to school believing
implicity in the story of creation as outlined
in the first and second chapters of Genesis,
in which God made one thing one day and
another thing the next day. Would that
someone would tell these young people that
the Bible is not a scientific textbook but
rather a book of faith, a book of religious
guidance, a book which proclaims the sov-
ereignty of God. That’s the important thing
—not that the world was created in six days
or six trillion years. The significant truth to
accept is that the world was made by God.
He is the Creator. Alas, they do not come
prepared this way so they rebel against
their religious teachings after their first
course in biology and science.
